Do you have a roll cage and 5 point harness in that thing? I don't know how that race group governs safety. Not much you can do when a part breaks on ya. Looks like minimal damage considering it could've got much worse. Still sucks to get damage none the less.

Thanks, and yes (of course) to the roll bar and harness. Most of my mods this year were for safety.

@ts|s ~ This was just the licensing day. I really can hardly wait for the first official race (May 27). Even you who were a little freaked out after you killed the Batmobile can't stay away and you are getting a new car so don't say you would hang up your keys, it is simply not true!

At these speeds sh1t breaks, it is part of the gaym!

    That's Racing!

i meant... since braking at those speeds is hard on the brakes, wouldnt a combination of downshifting and braking help to save the brakes a little?

The speed at which you slow down racing... probably do more damage to the transmission by downshifting (unless you do it 100% perfectly... wear out the clutch/synchros whatever) than the amount of damage to brakes by just braking*

    *unless your caliper falls off

when it happened to me, i was on the highway, going about 60-65 mph....the right front caliper flew off, tore the brake line, swong forward, broke my tie rod end, and gashed my wheel....

bolts were not loose, they were actually broken in half....the thread part was in the caliper, and the head part was in the bracket...bolts are 10.9 tensile, but they say the heat plays a part in them failing....

anyways im sure u were surpirsed to pay 12 bucks per bolt from gm?????

Well it would seem that bolt failure is not as rare as i first thought?

If you noticed that the bolts came with lock-tight already on the threads from GM.

I still had problems converting the video footage as I tried to convert almost an hour of footage and somehow it selected the footage to convert and I ended up with about four minutes?

The lock-up footage was piss poor as for one it was very far away and as the wheel locked up he pointed the camera to the ground in a worried panic.

Anyways, as promised here is all the footage I have got online so far:
