Medium Blue Metallic- 1999 Pontiac Trans Am
About to buy a car-99 MBM trans am w/ cam- question
So I finally came across a 1999 blue metallic trans am for sale. It is in CA while I'm in MO so I will have to drive it home. The current owner bought it with long tubes, flowmaster 40's, lid etc. It also has a "mild cam" from pro comp, but he doesn't know the exact specs of it since he didn't put it in. He "thinks" the lift is in the 260-270 range. Any idea of what specs a mild cam from pro comp might have for an LS1, assuming he didn't custom design anything? And will the car still be completely streetable and idle fine (of course he says yes).

Red- 2000 Trans Am
lol he doesnt know what hes talking about cause a 260-270 cam is NOT mild and it would sound like a drag car.

So I guess theres two posibilities:
1) It is a mild cam
2) It has lift of 260-270, not mild.
Either way would it be driveable for 2000 miles from CA to MO?

just ask him to email you a sound clip or video of the car running. That will tell you if it has a mild cam or not.

Yea he said he would put a video of it up soon so that should tell. When the cam was installed the heads were left stock so I figure it can't be too aggressive without changing pushrods, lifters, springs. Anyone know of any MBM trans ams for sale any closer? Badbluebird, selling?

Very true. So would the driveability of a cam with 260-270 duration be pretty good? Sorry for the weak questions but I have to have a crash course in cam specs to prepare for the purchase.

The guy posted a video and the cam was definetly mild, the car sounded near stock with a slight extra lobe. He might just not know what he's talking about. I will be happy to take the car off his hands and give it the care it deserves. Anyone have a mild comp cam-what are the numbers?
