I used to feel the same way until I woke up and realized that it's my own responisbility to determine the amount withheld out of my check for taxes. Even if that means making an additional payment (like 20, 30, 100 bucks) per pay period.

I know it sucks, but that's just kind of how it is.

According to the IRS we owe taxes, interest and penalty on $30K+ of unreported stock sales. Apparently the brokerage firm didn't send them a 1099 on one account. Since they don't have the cost basis they used the full price. I suspect when it is all sorted out we won't owe anything but it scared the $hit out of my wife when the letter came.
