Red Fire- 2007 Mustang GT/CS
Raced a CTS..V?
I was just bombing down Maple Valley Highway, was in a mood cause I had been have a *discussion* with my wife...
Nice day, had the tops off and the radio up, just gritting my teeth and minding my business when I notice this gold colored Caddy CTS pacing me sorta and then slowly accelerating by me. There's about 4 traffic lights we go through, and we catch the reds ( you know how it is, get one, get em all) and for the first couple of lights I am still in my own little groove, Static-X on the stereo, just grooving and getting up to 40 ( posted zone). Then at the third light I see him zoom by like it's a race. I am chuckling to myself cause I am thinking that the aggressive tone of my exhaust makes the other driver feel like I am taunting him...
I am seriously considering tossing it into neutral an ripping 4-5k a couple of times when the light goes green..
I accelerate a touch more aggressively, not to race but merely to show him I wasn't before. As soon as my door hits his front bumper I can see his hood lift and he starts to come by. I tilt my head an look at him thinking Whatever man.. when I see his wife looking at me with that supercilious and condenscending tone/attitude...
I simply mash it to the floor, still looking her in the eye, my car had JUST shifted into second ( and I gotta give TJ Wong props, the adjustments he made are AWESOME) and was about ooh 2500 rpms mebbe, don't know for sure as I wasn't looking at the gauges.. but she dropped down and broke loose for a moment or two, the sound was gorgeous.. screaming tires and exhaust just reverberating off their car ( did I mention they were in their late 40's to 50's) and her expression changed INSTANTLY.. her eyes got sorta big and her mouth made that little *oh* of suprise .
I look forward incase someone had pulled out off a side road etc, but no... still beautifully clear, I hold it to the carpet for two more upshifts, even got a nice little bark as the tires lost traction for a second or two going into 3rd..
I look back and was actually suprised that this four door Caddy was as close as it was, three maybe four cars back near 110 ish..
I am NOT that good a judge so it may have been only two cars as I didn't watch all that long...
Nevertheless.. He never got any closer, even after I returned to 40 mph he stayed back..heheheh
Not a bad way to break the doldrums .. I hear these Caddies do ok, guess this is a testament to that.

Had her dyno tuned by TJ Wong here in WA. on a Mustang Dyno I am 314.7 rwhp @6000 got 321.6 @ 6400 but I had him set the limit @ 6k, Just don't see me needing the extra 4-500 rpms much and about 305 lb of Torque

I think all the regular CTSs are V6s. You have to get the CTS-V to get the LS motored car. Same thing as a GTO. They should be pretty quick.

I swear the whole reason the CTS-V was made was so that old people like my dad can kick ass in their older years. He used to own me with his grand marquee when i had my nissan, now he cant touch my stang, so he drives home in a caddy with the northstar 350HP motor...son of a bitch..

lol my first car was a hand-me-down 92 mercury grand marquis from my mom back in high school. that thing was pretty powerfull and i always got a "whoa" outta my friends when we would be driving along and i would suddenly floor it. i think the mid 90's ones were around 260 hp. and it was soooo smooth. i could go over a huge pothole and barely feel it. now in my ss i can tell whether a penny is heads up or down when i pass over it lol. and the backseat of that car was like a friggin couch, i had some good times back there with my ex gf lol. i miss that car sometimes....

Remember the old guy probably couldn't shift it very fast. that'll make a huge difference. Especially if he didn't run it up to red line. Most of the older people when trying to race just run up a little bit, but not full out.

I didnt know they ever put LS2's in them. I thought they all had the LS6 motor? I can ask my one buddy, he's got one so he knows what the deal is with them. I know they're 12's right outta the box w/ guys who can drive them.

They are all LS2's... 2004 was the first year and it had 5.7l LS2 400hp... '05-'07 have 6.0l LS2 still with 400hp... Stock 3.73's... They are really quick... '08 CTS-V rumored LS7 500+ HP...

The curb weight is just a little over 3500 pounds, so they weigh basically the same as a trans am.
