Question for tinted guys?!
So, I got my 02 Z tinted today finally, it was much needed in FL.
Only one problem... there is a few inches of teflon dots on the upper rear window that tint I guess wont stick to as the guy explained to me. So It looks nice all the way up until the top of the rear window where it looks like a turd.
It was the first thing that turned me off about my buddys tinted T/A now im stuck with it too.
You guys have the same problems with tint? is there a good solution?

Mine is tinted onto the dots at the top but only goes 1/2 way through them. I was told by the guy its the only way to do it using one piece of tint. Every other f-body Ive seen is the same way. Youll get used to it....hopefully.

I have the same issue, I was told that if I wanted to spend the cash ( 200 ish) it could be redone and the dot matrix sanded down with some extremely fine sandpaper ( say 800 grit or better ) and then re-tint the rear window.
I can't see it from the inside and once I pass an opponent, I don't much mind if that is what he see's... just my .02 worth.

You'll get used to it. Or just pay the extra $$$$$ for the removal of a few dots

There are a few options. First you can sand the dots yourself, then get it tinted. Use a mirror type design so It cant be seen (like mine) or if the tint place is a good place they will put a black vinyl strip on it. It won't be seen through as the vinyl is opaque however it leaves no evidence of the tint not sticking.

I worked for a custom shop that does tint and we had a guy that figured out how to tint on the dots! all I know is that he used a small orbital sander and some fine sand paper. not sure what grit and how he did it but he did. He moved to the orlando area and have yet to hear from him. But i would use some black vinyl and cover it up. He did it on my 93 TA and was very nice one piece tint on the hatch. Which remiends me I need to get that tinted.

There should be no reason for settling when you are paying good money to have it done. Too late now for you but others who have not had tinting done yet should pony up the extra dollars and have it done right.
Why do all the modding to the car and then be left with a shitty tint job? Its all about the details. It would bug the shit out of me personally. But if you're tight on cash, that's another story. Just wait a bit longer on the tint and then get it done right. Just my .02
