Night Fishing
Have any of you guys ever fished at night from a boat? If so, what kind of lighting did you use to see where you were going? I'm planning on trying it for the first time in April and I was thinking that a couple spotlights would work. It will be 2-3 of us so someone can drive and the other passengers can run the spotlights. What do you think? Are there any headlight kits available that you know of?

Bring your girlfriend along and when you're in the right fishing spot, get her excited.
When she smells like the perfect bait, dangle her over the side.
All you have to do is hold the net out when the fish start jumping.
Pefectly legal.

if you go lake perch fishing cheap treak take a large mayo container and fill it with minno's and put the glow stick in it and lower it to the bottom with line with holes in the top. you get a bunch of fish with black and blue on there nose but you will catch alot.

Thanks guys, I'll make sure we take plenty of batteries. And to the poster about the girlfriend, I know what you mean. My ex stunk like the grease pits out behind Hooters on a hot summer day. Not fun.

You really don't need any light while night fishing as long as you know the lake. You really shouldn't be night fishing on a lake you normally don't fish on. Just because you see the water doesn't mean there can't be something under the water. I go night fishing in the spring pretty often.

I know the lake pretty well but its level changes from season to season so you never know what kind of big ass rock will be sticking up out of the water. I do know it well enough to be very careful along the shoreline though. We probably won't go very far away from the launch ramps just in case we run into problems.

I catfished off a cabin crusier last summer, I caught some fish, got drunk, and passed out...great times. Just use a lot off flashlights or these the're really handy on a boat

I typically only fish at night for flatheads. I fish on the Ohio River with no problems. At night it's a no wake zone so you basically just cruise along at a hair above idle. No need for a major light. We take a spotlight that plugs into the cig lighter and turn it on every now and then to watch for logs. Your boat has lights on it I presume? If not they're required by law.
