    This is a great thread. Add to the list some gory stuff like The Hills Have Eyes (remake), Wrong Turn, and some of the Hellraiser and TCM series. For more psychological/mood impact, Session 9 is worth seeing.

    Plus the Romero Dead series. The remakes are pretty good, too, but it's hard to beat the combination of horror, action, and social commentary on a movie like the original Dawn of the Dead.
