    SLP Lid Sealing Issues?

It seems like when I installed my SLP lid, it didn't seal against the rubber part of the filter very well. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm concerned about dirty ait bypassing the filter and killing my engine early.

im kinda confused?? The lid fits to the top of the airbox. Mine fits very well. The lid fitment shouldn't affect the filter at all. The filter should drop in its hole and then no dirt will get by.

Sorry if i don't understand your question so please tell me.

The bottom flat surface of the lid seals against the top raised lip of the filter, however it seems like with the SLP, the lip doesn't seal down as tight as the factory lid to that lip, and maybe even has avery small gap. The factory lid hit the rubber and then squished down on to it when latched, the SLP hits the plastic of the bottom air box and doesn't seem to squish down on the filter.

99blueZ, I found that my SLP lid was interfering with the seal and causing unfiltered air to enter under the filter. I used a method see where and why. PM me if you want the pics and explanation on what caused it and how I fixed it.

Ok now i get what you were saying. Well i will agree that the SLP lid doesn't fit as well as the factory one, but i've never had any issues with it. Looks like 01Z28M6 has a solution for you.

The SLP doesnt fit well, and it is REALLy bad if you do not get it down all the way. I had to cut my bellows (smooth) a lot to get it to sit back in there right, still aint great. Another reason why.... SLP SUCKS!

I'm thinking of maybe putting some kind of rubber strip around the bottom of the lid to seal it against the filter. Has anyone done this before? I may just go back to my stock lid and grin the fins down on the inside until its smooth.

Get a whisper lid or something like that, I think they work much better. I have had mine on for 5 years with no problems though and it was unsealed for a good amount of the time. If its fitting right, you should be able to get the latches on there real good. I think the gaps are mainly in the back once you get it on there right. Some weather stripping etc would prolly work.
