teal- 99 Z28 with an SS complex
how do you get warning levels????
I want some.......
As for the Vr-4..........hells no............like everyone says it is heavy and breaks very easy.
Get you a ws6 for 10-13 thou............than throw another 6 at it and you have a fast ass car............
As for everyone arguing about the awd..... you really don't need it.
It is something cool, changes driving characteristics, it all depends on how you want a car to feel in the turns, but a properly set up rwd car can do the same as an awd.

I have an 02' s-10. its currently got a 5-peed 4.3L in it, but im wanting to make more power, and it seemed like an LS1 would have much more easy then doing a turbo 4.3 build because i dont like messing with custom fuel units, and all the tuning. Plus the potential of the LS1 is insane as im sure every one in here knows, last night i saw a guy with a twin turbo'd LT1 and had over 800 hp i think. runnin in the 9.6 arear i think, lol, that guys my hero. But yeah, im wanting to pick up the t56/ls1 combo and it looks like they go for 2500 now woth under 100k on them easy.

Dude, that S10 would be sick with an LS1/T56 drivetrain.
Of course you will break your stock 7.5" axle in no time...
If I am not mistaken, that truck has the same worthless rear axle that is in the F-bod.Last edited by Roastem; 02-28-2007 at 09:43 AM. Reason: caint spel fur shit

Well youre right on most accounts, but in the newer s-1's. they gave the s10's that came with a 5-speed 4.3 the 8.5 inch rear to help handle the stress of the 5-speed, and since theyd had trouble with the rear end. So, mine actually has an 8.5 under it.e

yeah, its a step side too, so they are even lighter ten the fleetside bed. Any1 want to help me load a pic on here? i cant seem to do it. And my truck is 2wd, not a 4x4. But it should be fun when im done, can a stock ls1 handle a cam/heads/tune package to get 450 rwhp? thas kinda teh number id love to see for now, well actually itll be 400 cause i wont have the money for heads for a while.

yeah, but for 20g, you can find a really nice low mileage one, or for 10g u could get a nice one and make it crazy fast with the rest of the money, awd is tough on short street races.

I won't comment on everyone elses arguments but I will put my opinions up about your situation.
You could have an awsome ls1 car for 20k, but I wouldn't do the vr4 like everyone else stated.
You could however get a used evo for your price range.
Ebay exhaust 350 bucks
Brian crower 280 cams 400 bucks
Manual boost controller 80 bucks
Ebay o2 housing 100 bucks
K&N panel filter 65 bucks
Smc evo specific alky injection 500 bucks
Arp headstuds 90 bucks
Fuel pump 75 bucks
Lower intercooler pipe 100 bucks
Jdm diverter valve or ix valve 100 bucks
Tuning there are a lot of options, but for a custom tune with dyno time its 400 bucks.
So that's about 3,000 bucks right? Sounds like a lot.....but pair it with the evo I saw today going for 18,500 and you're at about 21,500 right?
Right here you have a high 11 second reliable car, that handles like a dream, on stock tires, stock block, stock clutch, stock turbo, intercooler, drivetrain etc. It doesn't need racegas, or any weight reduction other then spare tire removal, gets 24mpg, and seats 5, is drivable in ALL weather, etc.
The ls1's are great cars but its apples and oranges, they were built for entirely different purposes, and btw the people that keep talking about torque......I make 7 shy of 400wheel torque on pump gas, with a 2.0 liter.
My car is setup differently then the combination that I just mentioned, but it was built specifically to be fast and quick, and extremely drivable.
Http://media.putfile.com/turbotrix20g here is a link to my video if you want to check it out, I don't include times in my vids, but the last pass is 12.0
