    Post question about 4l60e's

Would a tranny out of a 96 2wd blazer 4l60e fit into my 98 z-28 camaro? I know it wouldn't hold the full power. The problem I have is I can't afford to take it in to have it done right now and I live in an apartment complex where I have to move the car every other day. I lost 3rd and 4th in the current tranny. The blazer tranny is good and free. I just was wondering if it would fit with the ls1 torque converter. I had heard that the torque converter bolt pattern was different from the 4.3 vortec to the ls1 but the trans was the same. Is this right or wrong. The orginal tranny will be tore down and rebuilt and put back in. But I don't have the time to do it all at once. Within the two day time frame. Thanks. Sorry so long.

yes, it will bolt in. but, getting it to work is another story. internals are the same. bellhousing bolt pattern is the same, except where the blazer one doesn't bolt to the oil pan. you'll need a flexplate adapter to fix the spacing difference.

Ok, so it really isn't worth even putting in for temporary then is it? If I have to buy adapters. Is a 4l60e hard to rebuild or is it fairly easy? I have a lot of mechanical knowledge and am willing to try anything. Any special tools?

They are exceptionally hard but can be done with decent mechanical knowledge, But do require special tools to change the seals etc, Which though they can be worked around with considerable effort make the diferrence between easy and really hard,

How much would it cost (approximately) to build for 550 rwhp. That figure is way over what I am producing but I am looking into the future. Would the blazer tranny hold as well as the ls1 tranny since it has the same internals.
