17"/18" 245/275 C5 Vette Wheels on Pewter Z
Been hunting for good picts to see how 17-9.5"/245-45s Front 18-9.5"/275-45s Rear Would look on my Y2K Pewter Z28.
Seen a lot of picts come close....but struggling w/the Chrome look of the C5's versus the gunmetal painted ZR1 look.
If anyone has any good pictures of their ride w/either combo would you mind posting it here for all to see/admire?
Thanks..

if you go w/ 17x9.5 front, i'd go 275/40-17
if you go w/ 18x9.5 rear, i'd go 275/35-18
but i'd go w/ 18x10.5" in the rear w/ 295/35-18Eugenio_SS

Wow...in your signature...17x11's w/315's How much "BFH Maletage" (hammer) did you have to apply to wheel wells to get everything to fit?

Well I just pulled the trigger on a purchase:
"Almost new Corvette C6 wheels and tires taken off an 06 Corvette with only 7K miles. Rear set are 19 /10.5 wheels with P285/35 ZR19 tires, front set will be 18 x 9 with P245/40 ZR18. The tires are Goodyear Eagles"
Got the whole outfit for $650. Totally psyched!
I'll post a pic when I get them on the Camaro.
Thanks for the 'puts.

I got them powder coated. It cost about $300 for all of the wheels. If you decide to have someone powdercoat something, when you pick them up, inspect them. I came home and found a couple of runs in mine.

Thanks for the pointers guys.
Came up w/some sweet tires/wheels courtesy of one of our vette brothers who wanted to part w/his brand new C6 equipment.
Rear set are 19 /10.5 wheels with P285/35 ZR19 tires, front set will be 18 x 9 with P245/40 ZR18.
Obviously I will require some "malettage"/BFH treatment in the rear wheel wells to get this done. Looks like the lower, forward third of the wheel well will require some clearancing.
Does anyone have some pointers on the quantity/scope of movement required to make these 285/35/19's fit? Pictures of your work would be huge!!!
I expect to recover the area I work over w/some undercoat once I'm done.
Anybody think I'll have to acquire some spacers to pull this off on the rears? Or can I simply mod the inner wheel well?
Again fello F-Body fans...thanks for all your help.
Cheers,
E

Oh boy...this could be a real misfire.
Thought the C6 tires/wheels were compatable w/the LS1 Z28.
Well...paying closer attention to the details (where the devil lives) the tires are 1 inch different in diameter.
This is going to cause problems with the ABS.
So, do I pitch this stupid cheap set of wheels and run flat Goodyear F1's, or is there a programmer (aftermarket) out there to unscrew the abs issues of taller tires on the rear?
Oh I hope somebody has an idea out there.....the car looks really cool w/these on ...gonna have a hard time turning back.
Standing by fellas,

Ok, so here's the theory.
I think I can get the ABS to work.
Understanding that the brake controller doesn't sense speed, it senses voltage from the wheel sensors somewhere in the range of 100mv up to around 3V based on speed variation.
I think we can recover the ABS by inserting an inline resistor into the wheel sensors with the shorter tires.
Based on the specs on our car, the sensors measure between 800-1600 OHMs. To make up for a 25.7 and 26.9 tire diameter, you would need an inline resistor between 35 and 70 ohms inserted into the sensor wiring to compensate for the voltage mismatch.
Going to radio shack today to pick up parts.
Anyone have any recommendations on parts? I don't think I'll blow up anything.....plus it would be cool to have our ABS working AND be able to sport a cool tire wheel combo like this.
I'll keep everyone posted.

It Worked!!!!
CHECK EM OUT.
After much math, research and measuring, I decided to go with a 1 inch billet spacer on the rear hubs. This tire/wheel combo w/the 1 inch spacer reducing the offset 1 inch...was the maximum tire wheel combo I think you could safely stuff into the wheel wells.
No hitting yet in the first few test drives. Will keep everyone posted if anything different develops.
The ABS worked as well. Was ready w/the right set of electronics to re-bias the front sensors but didn't need to.
Thoroughly rung out the brakes w/a test drive.
Built up the braking events from slower to faster. With the graduation exercise consisting of 90+ on asphalt through a patch of sand (where trucks have been turning on the road) w/the pedal through the floor. The ABS worked flawlessly. Locked the shoulder belt w/the pedal through the floor...then when it hit the sand...pulsed the brakes perfectly...then transitioned back to asphalt and kept on braking as advertised.
Really stoked. The car is a real sleeper. But if you look up close at all the rubber on the road...it has a serious "means business" stance.
Wooohooo!

looking really nice there. keep us updated on the ABS issue. the ABS doesn't go haywire until you drive continuously for about 5-10 miles.
