He starts to not listen when I babble about car stuff. He is sick of hearing about mods and parts

Dad and I have limited discussions. Stocks and cars

I wouldn't need 2 sets if my Buick didn't blow the tranny

No need for another car, just more wheels and tires!

I was asking him if I needed a new bell housing for my T5 to mount it to my LS1 for my 3rd gen. He was like I don't know. So I continued asking 500 other questions

I like having a FWD beater for everyday driving. Better on gas, better in snow, and I drive them like I hate them. I love my TA and want to keep it nice and lower milage

He is slow at doing that stuff

hbta, i wouldn't say 2 complete sets of wheels/tires is needed in cold climates, but having an extra pair for the rear is more ideal...

They are indeed needed. Try turning a corner with summer tires on the front when it's 15 degrees out. You'll be pushing the front into a snow bank like a fwd going to fast around a curve! Not to mention trying to stop at and speed on snow.

You only need to read the last 2 or 3 pages to know what's going on.

well if one is foolish enough to speed on snow then panic break as a result of not leaving enough distance between the car(s) in front/around them, then they get what's coming to them. a few wrecks here and there by the people who claim to be 'above average/cautious' drivers really just clears the roads for those who truly are above average drivers. perphaps a hard lesson learned, but more often that not, it isn't...

btw, i have driven in ice and snow in 15° weather w/ultra high performance summer tires and DR's, since the age of 14 and i have never lost control, wrecked or been hit...

Actually, Tap is going to look at a car now. I found a 1993 Grand Prix 2 door with 58k miles

    It's a perfect Tap beater

But your breaking distance and cornering ability really sucks with summer tires in the front. I used to do that all the time, and never had much problems, but when I tried out snow tires on all 4's it was like I put 4x4 in the car and could stop in hard pack snow like it was 80 degrees out and only wet roads. After that I was like WTF was I thinking before.
