    GM top end cleaner

Ok need some quick yes or no's from ya fellas...is this the right stuff to use through the brake booster to clean the top end? I got it at the dealer...he said they don't get many people in asking for this stuff...and that they use it with some sort of machine that cleans the top end. It does say top end cleaner on the bottle...just want to make sure it's the right stuff before I use it.

The cans of top-end cleaner from GM that I have seen come in a metal can that is bigger than that. I don't work at a GM dealership, but I can surmise that the 'machine' they are talking about is probably a pressurized can that sprays a fan of that mixture into the throttle body. We do two kinds of cleaner @ dodge, one is a fuel injector cleaner that plugs into the fuel rail, the other is an intake manifold cleaner that uses a machine like I described above.

You should just grab some sea-foam...tried and true.

Thanks to all those that replied....turns out it's the wrong one. The PN for the right stuff is 01050002...and like keliente said it's in a big metal can. The stuff they sold me is for their machine that sprays this stuff into the TB using a drip system of some sort...glad I didn't use it Bad news is the parts guy said the stuff I want isn't sold at the dealers in cali anymore....something about bad for the environment or some hippy shit. Next time i'm in Reno i'm gonna grab a few cans....until then i'll use seafoam.

BG 44k is the best I have ever seen. Time after time watched it work miracles. Just poor it in the tank with about 5 gallons of gas and walla.

If you have ever run Seafoam through your brake booster hose, you would understand why they banned it in Cali- the smoke make the neighbors think the whole block is on fire! Amazing- I have used it a couple times- watch out, it wrecks the rubber hoses- I let it slowly get sucked into the running engine for a couple minutes, then let it take a big "slurp" to stall the engine, and left it sitting in the intake for a few minutes to soak into everything- then started it up using the "flooded" procedure- man, what a smoke cloud!

If you are concerned about cleaning the intake, I would also recommend going in through the throttle body with a good cleaner, making sure to get all the little orifices and even the back of the throttle blade-

    Click for full size
Unless they have changed it that is NOT it. The GM stuff we use comes in a metal can about twice that size.

Definitely. Will smooth out your idle and clean the engine out nicely. A clean engine makes more power and is much more efficient than a dirty one. With 77,000 miles, you're well overdue for a top end cleaning

Try to do the seafoam before you change your plugs, because all the garbage that gets burned up and blown out the exhaust can really dirty up the spark plugs. Best thing to do it seafoam it, drive it for a few miles, and then change out your lugs for new ones.

Please tell more; specifically what hoses and more about your experience?

I was planning on using the Seafoam top engine cleaner after dusk. I have 100k on my LT1 and experience about 2-3 degrees of knock retard after running it hard. I suspect too much carbon desposit in the combustion chamber that is creating hot spots after a WOT session. I'm thinking it is causing the spark knock for a few minutes even under normal acceleration until the inner temps get back to normal.

    ^never hurts to try,

i just found out about this procedure and did it to my 1990 volvo 240 with 200K on it, and oh boy what a smoke show, seems to idle a lot smoother

cant wait to try it on my Camaro, i've used the seafoam in my gas and oil in the camaro just not through the intake yet

All that does is run a cleaning solution through your injectors... which really doesn't even help the injectors that much, much less your top end.

Seafoam is great but I'd save it for when ur ready for a tune-up. I've seen it foul new plugs on extreme cases. Either way you don't really wanna use it and still run the same plugs

    (shameless plug)

If you really want to clean your injectors, intake valves and somewhat clean the combustion chamber you might try our product, does the same thing as those $350 - $650 kits at a fraction of the price.

Clcik on the little ad we've got running or http://www.iecoklahoma.com
