srt4 vs trans am

i have a friend of mine who wants to race me in my g/fs car. Its 99 trans stock besides slp lid and he has a srt4 with a exhaust system. what will be the outcome from a drag or from a roll. he says hes doing 19 psi. thx

thx i was just wondering because he says i will smoke him from a dead stop but he would get me from a roll

you'll smoke him from anything. but 19psi huh? thats quite alot, i think he is blowing smoke up your ass personally. so take it too him.

i raced one and smoked em bad but it was stock we raced from a dead stop but i agree 19 psi is bull

just because its an srt and it has a turbo dosnt mean he can drive it good, theres lots of turds out there who have nice cars and dont know how to drive em' noe go kick his ass and brag about it.

Just take him for a quick little ride in the T/A, it changed my SRT 4 buddy's mind pretty fast. Go 30 to 130 he wont know what to think.

if you race him start from between 10 and 25 mph any thing over that and he has an edge.

Although it is a horrible thread, I have see a few srt4s here in cincy what can break into the 12s with slicks and turning up there boost (plus exhaust).

I never see them on the street that I need to go over 4000 rpm for from any speed or a standing start. The have no advantage at any speed if they are not modded to atleast a stage 3 equivalant.

Dude if the guy is running 19 psi he is probably got a little more than an exhaust.. SRT's can be wickedly fast... I raced one in the 1/8th here at Irwindale Speedway, and he beat me by about 10-12 lengths.. granted i was in my Grand Prix GTP.. but al I have is a 4in FenderWellIntake.. hehhe the car runs like a 14.8-14.9 not too bad for a stock car...

anyways I think my point was just be careful, i would do like hutch said, just take the kid for a ride and see what he says after that... if your TA is manual, My favorite is going about 50 mph, rev up to about 4-4500 and drop into 2nd gear, and maybe row through 3rd and 4th.. just make sure the road is wide open, cuz you'll kick it sideways

I agree, well not necessarily an edge but better chances. I ran a 04 SRT4 with stage 2 upgrades, he claimed 20 psi....from a dig I would win by 5 cars, 25mph roll 3 cars, and 40mph roll 1 car. I would say that the rpm must be about perfect for them when they are rolling 40mph and get that damn turbo spooling as good as it will get...........But then again I ran that car when mine was completely stock. lol. I will admit I was slightly impressed with the 25 and 40 roll results but I am definitely not trading the T/A for one ever. just my .02$

I time trialed against an srt4 this past summer. I had him by 4-6 lenghts off the line, but at mid track he drove by me like I came out of gear. I ended up running 13.50's @ 101 and he ran 12.20's @ 122. My car is a 98 TA A4 2.73 gears with a lid DR's and a vigilante 3200 stall converter. He told me later that the car had been on a serious diet and the motor had just been built up, but he still had the small injectors in it so he limited the boost to 12 psi. He figured it would go deep into the 11's when he gets the bigger injectors and turns up the boost. Our LS1's are fast yes, but dont ever think that all skittles are slow
