Newbie
Hey all. I'm new to the forum, and to the LS1 world. FI has always made me 'nervous', at least as far as working on them. I'm not new to the hobby:
71 Chevelle, 468 Roller Motor, M-21 4speed, 3.55's in a 12 bolt. Motor ran a best of 12.2 @ ~112 in a 4800# Impala. Live to far away from the track to get a time in the Chevelle.
Looking to get either a Camaro or Firebird as a spirited summer driver, as well as to learn about the newer motors.
Thanks, and look forward to learning and maybe giving some help down the road.

Thanks Tyler,
On the odometer there are ~86,000. But it was a drag car for awhile, when I got it the speedo cable wasn't connected (so teh odometer wasn't counting), it had steep gears in it for a bit before I had it, so I really don't know how many miles are on it exactly. The origonal motor is long gone, as well as the trans, so I'm not worried about origonality.
I havn't gotten a chance to run it at the track yet. I don't have a trailer, and I won't drive it (55 @ 3000 isn't good for gas mileage). As I said, the motor is capable of deep 11's in my 'lighter' car. But, I have fooled around on teh street, and havn't had any problems with anything.
I always loved the older cars more then the newer cars. They have a classic look that you don't see much anymore. (Not nocking the new ones, just prefer the old ones). And I always loved the way that a '69 Chevelle looks. I just liked the rear of the 71's the best. Only downside is they keep getting more and more expensive.

ya thats why i bought the LS1 it was just too expensive to get a Chevelle
I like the tail look of the 71' but i like the front of the 70' better.
Take care of it and it will last a lot time.
what kind of gear are you running in the rear?

I agree with ya on the 70 front. But it also happened that at the time I was looking for my Chevelle, the guy that was selling it didn't know what he had and it went for a song.
I'm running 3.55's in the rear. Not nearly enough gear for the cam, but that may change soon. The cam doesn't turn on until 3000 and pulls like crazy to 6500 (havn't gone any higher, but it didn't fall off). I may be going with 4.10's or 4.56's, with a much taller tire. As you may have noticed, it doesn't see many highway miles.
