My daughters ( one of em anyway) is named Amy. In 1981 when she was born...we thought Amy was such a "unique" name....she had like 506 Amy's in her first grade class

Welcome to the board.
I live in Chicago in the summers, florida in winters. What part are you from?
Also, i know its not racing season up there.....but when it warms up you should check out Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, WI.
((greatlakesdragaway.com) or google it)
I met a lot of cool f-body (that's what they call our T/A's and Camaros) owners when i went, and got a bunch of passes in because it wasn't too crowded.
Enjoy your car, and be careful of the modding bug. Its rampant this time of year.

6 passes is pretty good, more than that and my clutch starts slipping at the top o 3rd. what kind of times did you run?
I didnt mean to be condescending towards you ( if that what you think), I just didn't how how much you knowledge you had since you are new to the game.....
You should have told the fake firehawk owner to line em up!

well he did do better than me, about .6 seconds better (if i remember correctly) but only because he was spraying. best time i ran was 13.5 at 102 mph. i didnt think it was too bad consideringi only had a catback and drag radials on. nothin else. but now imcurious once i get all my suspension on.... you can bet youll see me there this spring.....

its auto. not my first choice, but when i found the car it was in 99% perfect condition and ditched the manual trans idea. now people are telling me that its better for racing. but then you get those idiots who are like, "ya but its not a 6spd." then i tell them to f*ck off. and i dont consider myself new to the car hobby. ive owned the car since my 21 bday and that was ... oh.. 1 and 1/2 yrs ago. plus i dated someone for about 2 and 1/2 yrs before that who had an lt1(rip). i know im considered new to the group though! and may i also say... this site is way more friendly that ls1tech.com! ive posted there a few times and no one replies to me. so thank you very much for the many replies! youve done a good job welcoming me!

I like the 6 spd for the highway mileage. plus I think its more fun to drive, but any girl who owns races and mods her ls1 is okay by me.
And yes the auto is definately better for drag racing.

Only better for drag racing if you are interested in consistency. I had a '98 TA and sold it to get what I really wanted, my '00 WS6 6speed. I think the 6 speed is more fun to drive the 99.5% you are not at the drag strip. Also slightly better gas mileage. I also do not have the hassle of rush hour stop and go, which would be easier to handle with an AT.

like i said before, the car was 99% perfect, plus i wanted it in time for my bday and it was dirt cheap for what it was. i just had to take what was laying in front of me at the time. i love 6speeds. definitely more fun to drive! my next sports car will be a manual, be it a trans am or not.
