New To Transmissions....
I have a 99 camaro V6 A4 for now, What kind of gears do I have? In a drag race would it be better to keep it in O/D or 3rd? And whats a good way to modd up an auto transmission and how much $$$ im i looking at? Also in a camaro it goes from Overdrive to drive and a firebird Drive to 3rd, is there a difference? Srry for all the questions but I dont know much about transmissions and the transsy section of site didnt get many viewers

An aftermarket stall convertor, a tranny cooler and possibly a shift kit would be the best things you could do to upgrade your transmission.
A convertor can run anyway from $400 upwards, a cooler is about $50 and the shift kit runs about $100.
Sorry, but I don't know enough about V6s to know what gearing you have

my first mod would be to buy a V8 car. run it in 3rd when racing
crane cam 228/232 .600 lift, jet hot long tubes, full exhaust, self ported tb, jessel ss rockers, fast intake, 4.10 gear, and lots of love.

the best thing you could do would be stop wasting money on your v6's transmission and start saving up for an lsx engine. I promise its worth it

Your car will not be worth more if you keep modding. Its still only a V6 unless you put some serious MONEY into it. Even V8 owners who sell thier 11-12 sec cars wont get close to what they spent on mods! Best advice you have heard, and will keep hearing over and over again, is wait it out until you get a V8.

Well i was planning on selling it on the streets and not to a car dealership, I know the dealerships wont care but to the other people wouldnt it be worth more?

Well, possibly, but only in certain circumstances I think. If you are selling it privately, most people tend to think a modded car has been driven harder then average, lowering what they want to pay for it. Even if they will pay extra for a modded car, the money you spent modding will more likely then not be more then what you will get back. The only time I think it would help you is if you are selling to a younger driver, and/or someone who doesn't know anything about cars, and you just have exhaust and simple mods done. Then they'll probably think the car is faster then it is, just because exhaust can make people think that. Cheap and might get more out of them.
