I've heard that it was crap. I know a guy who got one and was running H/C and full bolt-ons and took it off because I think it actually hurt his car, performance wise.

i got one when my old maf was broke. I like it. And don't mess with that screen - the minimul performance gain is not worth the potential problems.

Yeah, leave the screen alone. If the stock one is OK keep it in case you ever decide to get a custom tune.

I have nothing but bad things about the SLP MAF. Alot of problems when you try to get a tune.
You could try to go with the Zo6 MAF, larger diamter, and the ability to relocate the IAT to the MAF. (If it will fit your car that is...)

Return it.
Nothing but problems with mine...enough that I had to leave my car 950 miles from home and have it towed all those miles.

I HAVE ONE AND I DID NOT REMOVE THE SCREEN, I HAD A CODE INITALLY BUT I BELIEVE THE TIMING TRICKER RESISTOR (SLP) TEMP SENSOR WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. AFTER REMOVING IT I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS. BUT I WISH I HAD SEEN ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS BEFORE I GOT MINE AS I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE SKIPPED IT.

Hey now...the headers do make some good numbers. Just an outdated design that they won't stand behind.

Yes they do. Bad.
I had them when I was stock ride height, scraped them several times.
I have not once hit my Kooks and I am dropped now.

well i called slp to see what they have to say about their product, and of course they said it was fine,
i asked them about the custom tuning after i install the slp maf, and they said as long as you tune it after you install it it will be fine, cause it advances your timing by 3 degrees, and most tuners will advance it even more causing poor drivability, and by removing the screen it causes turbulance and false readings
i cant say that this was a good purchase, but i can say you can't beleive everything you read on the internet either, not saying anyone here doesn't know what they are talking about, but i just hear so many different things about one product so what dod you do
i'll telll ya what im gonna do, im going to gateway next tuesday 10th if weather permits and test this slp maf
look for a new post wednesday
im gonna do 3 passes with my stock maf
then 3 passes with the slp maf
then 3 passes with the stock
and 3 passes with the slp
i think this would be a preety accurate test since i am changing back abd forth between the two and slp claim 10hp well even if it is 5 hp i should be able to see it on the slips

Search on that MAF.
Trust me, we aren't the only ones saying to avoid it.

Won't be accurate because by adding more or less airflow it takes your car some time to read the new airflow and make the necessary corrections. Trust us when we tell you that the $$$ is better spent on other mods, the stock MAF is good for up to 500 hp, we wouldn't steer you wrong.
