USMC ball/ Car show
So we're having our Marine Corps ball on the 7th of November. And the Sgt's were tasked with coming up with a creative way to raise money for the tickets. so we don't really have to pay for them.
there's the usual car washes, burger drives, etc...
but i want to put on a car show. there's only one show a year in YUMA and it's in March. I don't know much about categories, putting it together, etc..
my idea is $25-$35 for vehicle registration and $5-$10 for admission. In theory, i'd like to get it set up on the Air field when it's closed. but i don't know what the probability of that is.
I don't want to get too extravagent on the catagories. i figure something like best of show, and maybe a sound off or something. Keep in mind, this is for the Ball, so while there would be cash prizes for the winners, it would probably just be for 1st place.
any ideas, suggestions, etc.. would be greatly appreciated.

Alright,
1st - You are already too late.
(Security, planning, publicizing, etc)
2nd - the amount of work a car show requires far outweighs the profit you will gain.
It is a great idea for NEXT year's Ball, and should be looked at. But this year, have some Sausage Sandwich sales, donut sales and such at work, these can help a little.
Good luck and have a good time at the ball.

the Marines in my platoon would probably do security. i'm not looking for a huge turn out. but something about $1000-$2000 worth. i'm willing to do a lot of the work. a friend told me i may be too late also, but that it was doable. just gonna be a pain.

i was hoping for an October 29th Show. it's a Sunday. i figure spend the first part of next week for sponsors, space, etc... and then put out the flyers. if i can get enough people from San diego/Phoenix, i think it may work out. even if it turns up being mostly f-bodies.

Get tons of flyers, go to EVERy car show, race, event, etc.
Hit all the Parts stores, get some sponsorship
call the radio stations and ask them to through a quick plug.
Invite all cars.
find someone that can play a clown, so KIDS will be welcome (thus families)
do not forget Vendors for food and drink (get the troops to help on that and bring in more $).
Good luck!!!! If I was in SD, I would drive over for it. But Denver is WAY too far.
