Yep. I liked 'em enough that I bought an '89 notchback 5.0.

It was a pretty nice car at the time. It had the Z28's number back then, but not after the LT1 took off.

Yeah, the weight advantage definitely played into the Mustang's hands on that one. However, the TPI Z28s and T/As had good grunt out of the hole. Just nothing on the top end. Hell, they couldn't breathe past 4500 RPM.

Agreed. That was my favorite Mustang as far as power goes. I had it to somewhere north of 150 but shy of 160. Very, very, scary car at speed in any wind. The back end floated like nobody's business.

Key word there being 89. I think the Fox body stangs started out in 79 with like 200hp - got up around 240 - and then ended up in 93 with 180 or so because of all the egr and emissions....

Still fun cars to play around in. A friend of mine is doing a complete restore of an 89 notch michigan state police mustang. Nasty bluegrey interior and everything. Wants it all original...except for a nice Tremec.

Ive made it to 150 in my 1993 LT1 firebird formula A4 and a 150 in the Ls-1 car. The Ls-1 got there a lot faster

I get this question alot. It was a mistake to get rid of my 89. It was actually turbocharged after the supercharger and ran mid 10s. I got 23 mpg with it and I drove it on the Hot Rod Power Tour and was part of the long haul gang.
I wish i had it back.

Fastest as a driver was 140 plus, I didnt want to look down long enough to see the exact number. Fastest as a passenger was 130.

Had the 01 Cobra at 155 mph, and the Z28 up to 150 mph with 4.10's a couple times. I don't like to do that with the Z, I get a weird vibration above 145 mph.

165 in my old LS1 Camaro.....never again. 165 on my old gixxer, 137 in my 93 Honda Civic, 145 in a 2004 V6 Accord, 130 in a Honda CRV, 130 in a Prelude.
