Leave the cap of the system while the car is running....it will "burp" and you keep filling it as it burps until it stops burping.

Where are you supposed to dispose of the old stuff? I'm assuming "dump it down the drain" is the wrong answer...

I've always just dumped it down a sewer drain Where ever you dump it make sure animals can't get to it because it taste sweet to them but it's lethal.
The highest point in the cooling system is the throttle body. You can disconnect the coolant lines going to the TB and as yu fill the system the air will be pushed to the top and out the lines. You still have to do what sarge said but this just helps getting all the air out.

I used Sarge's method, just leave the cap off, wait for tstat to open, keep filling - worked for me. Most autoparts stores around here will take old coolant w/no charge.

Any car dealership or auto parts store must by law take it.

My repair shop has a recycler that takes old coolant-if someone stopped by with a gallon or so we'd have to take it i believe--I know we will. Otherwise if you dump it down a sanitary sewer line, as opposed to a rain water sewer line,, it will be treated and separated as sludge at the sewage treatment plant. In other words it is acceptable to flush this down the toilet or sink, but not the street sewer. And definetly not in the ground please-it will pollute the groundwater.
