you could save yourself hundreds of dollars and just do it yourself. pacesetters go in pretty easily.
if you have access to a ratchet set, wrenches, jack and jackstands. i say go for it!
sorry, i know thats not the answer you were looking for. but back in march, i was in the same boat as you, i decided to take the plunge and do it myself.

More than a few hours for me
sunsetorangess had a better experience than I did. It certaily took me more than a few hours. Can't give you an exact time but afternoons X3 and started car on the 4th day. Had two small exhaust leaks which needed retorque and some tore-up fingers working in the engine compartment. Oh...I changed the plugs and wires (@41K) while it was on stands. The latter accounts for a fair bit of time. Pretty staight forward work and saved me a bundle I didn't have. Take your time and have other transportation available to you.Good luck

Yeah, mine was down for a total of 2 weeks, only working bits and pieces between school and work. Plus, I had to wait for a cherry picker, something you may/maynot need. But I have a DD beater truck, so the down time didn't affect me at all.

Black- 2000 WS6 6spd Hooker LT
I was lucky enough to do mine at work today, had a lift. Took me 5 hours. Hooker ceramic with ORY. The install instructions with the headers said you would need to jack up the car at least 17 inches.

That heighth sounds about right. I think my passenger side had to be higher to fit the header in than the driver's side. But mine is an LT1, not an LS1. But I wound up dropping the passenger side in from the top once I lifted the engine. I hear a lot of LS1 owners saying that their driver's side is more difficult than the passenger's side, but I had an opposite experience with the LT1. Kinda weird.

All of you are talking about installing lt's, u had to buy, or make a y-pipe section, $1200 probably including that and the lts. please be more specific. If your wanting to spend that much, dynatech makes ss lts w/ a y-pipe w/ high flow cats, but thats if you want cats price is about $1300, and you can install it your self, and hooks up to existing cat-back

If I have the capability to do something (knowledge, experience, tools) then I by all means do it myself. I would never pay to have mods done that I could do myself in a few days or less with nothing but jackstands and handtools.
I've saved myself and others hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the course of 3 years by doing all the maintenance and repairs that I can do myself, not to mention the satisfaction of doing your own work and gaining experience.
If you don't have access to the tools or workspace thats one thing, but take our advice and do it yourself if at all possible.

im doing mine now (97' z28) at an auto hobby shop. they have lifts and all the tools i will ever need. All the guys that work there were telling me that i was gonna have to lift the engine...but i didnt have to. Had to remove the alternator, steering linkage, oil filter, and plugs/wires. (The ls1 have the alternator on the driver side and the lt1 is on the passenger side.) The hardest part of the install so far are the stock manifolds And the cat to manifold bolts. Hoping to finish up by thursday
