LS1's too fast?

Ok I dont know if this question been answer before but I seen alot of magazines where they claim to have ls1 f-bodys into the low 13's and even high 12's but I saw the Car and Driver magazine and it shows that the C6 Corvette runs 12.8 and the Z06 12.2 so is the F-body that close to the new Corvettes. Because from what I know it doesnt take that much for an F-body to run lower than 12's.

Yep, the f-bodies are that close. They run hard from the factory and responsed very well to mods. Just my two cents.

I will say that they are close as well. My (old) bonestock 2001 a4 SS ran a 13.18. No mods other than a lid. Street tires too.

My 99 Z28 w/ 100K miles ran low 13 with Borla exhaust

They underrated em to not piss off Vette owners to much. Hence the camaro title "A Poor Man's Vette".

Haha, well they aren't THAT close. I've seen times on the 2006 Z51 packaged corvette C6's of 12.4 in the quarter, obviously that would be in prime conditions, but those will walk an LS1, even with boltons. If you had FULL boltons such as lid, exhaust, LS6 intake, headers, and possibly cam, then I could see an LS1 staying with a Z51 vette.

O, and I have seen times from 11.4 to 11.7 on the Z06.
