RED- 2001 PONTIAC TA RAM AIR
If you get either the Z28 or SS, just be prepared to shell out alot of money for the insurance premium!

driving is a talent, commuting is a skill that is learned.
An fbody is a drivers car, it is meant to be driven, not commuted in, but it can be used for both. At the age of 16 you'll be itching to punch it...any guy with a pair will do that....
My 2nd car ever was an LS1. I had minimal experience in driving when i got it anyway....i find it extremely difficult to get it out of shape...i mock that up to my driving talent. I now had probly 450hp to the rear wheels, and still find it hard to get it out of shape...probly because I know what im doing.
My GF however, got behind my car, and she was all over the place with it, and it was difficult for her to drive. Though she loves it....
If your comfortable, get it...but, respect it. Control the car, do not let it control you.

I really have a hard time saying go for it here. I have seen some sixteen year olds do some really stupid ass stuff to nice cars. I would have to recommend at least getting a plain 4 cyl. front wheel drive for a while, at least til you get more used to just driving in general. If you do go for the f-body, every stop doesn't require a burnout, every turn doesn't require a powerslide, and every long straight road doesn't require a 130 mph run!
I know it sounds stupid but god damn I have seen some newbie drivers that torture some nice cars that daddy bought for them. I wish you good luck with whatever you decide!

Mixed because it depends on your maturity level. If you are responsible, then go for an SS. One thing most 16 year olds don't anticipate is the minute you mash the gas, it's out of your control unless you know how to control it. Like any V8, you have to learn to respect it, not abuse it. And being 16, no matter what, you will always be the inexperienced driver. I say it's a good thing though that you have a chance to get one, just realize that at first, the car can drive you if you don't know what to do in certain situations, ie. hydroplaning in the wet or bald tires

Sebring Silver- 98 Z-28 camaro
My first car was a third gen, which I still own today and I absolutely loved that car. It was a weak 305 but still had enough power to burn the tires off and get me around. Now that I own a LS1 Z-28 I'm glad I started out with less power cause this Z-28 still scares me from time to time, it's a damn beast!

i suggest not starting out w/a v-8. otherwise you will be 16 years, 1 month old posting here looking for your second car...

If I were you, I would get a third gen. I drove a van unitl about 6 months after I got my license, then I got my Iroc. They are a lot cheaper (so its not as bad if you do wreck it) and they don't have as much power as say, an LS1, which is not the best car to start out with. I got my Iroc a year and a half ago for $3700, and it had just been repainted. It has 190hp (compared to an LS1's 300+), but thats more than enough for a new driver, and the almost 300ft/lbs of torque is also fun
My friend also got in a wreck and totaled his first car, then he got an 2001 WS6. That might not really count since his first car was an early fourth-gen Trans Am... but the point is, most teenage drivers will get into a wreck within the first couple years of driving. I've been lucky so far, but a lot of my friends have though. If you do want to get V8 rwd car, get something older, and definately not an LS1.

My first car was a 99 vette and i still have it. The only thing is that i worked for it and finished paying it this year. So i took care of it has much ass possible. If your parents buy it go for a slow car cause you will mistreated.

Oh my god, I must be old school
Fuck all these dudes man. If you want it GET IT.
My first car in high school was a 427 big block chevelle 4 spd 12 bolt posi. Hopped it up with headers, cam, manifold, holley carb and ran 12.40
AT 16 YEARS OLD.
Turned around sold that bitch for a BOSS 429 MUSTANG at 18 years old.
Man, back in those days we hung out at the track damn near full time. I bet I had over 2000 passes before I was out of high school
And street racing???? Forget about it, EVERY weekend it was street racing for money.
Right the fuck on the main drag just like in the movies. We cruised ALL NIGHT LONG. Up and down fucking with the chicks, burning out, racing, whatever.
Enjoy those teen years man, cause soon enough you gotta grow up and that aint no fun.

- 1999 trans am
My first car was a v6 mustang. after about 6 months i sold it and got a 99 trans am. i have not gotten in any trouble in it so far. i now have another 99 trans am because some guys decided to shoot some guys and run from the cops into the back of my parked car. but just to let you know, all of my money is going towards my car, so be prepared to be broke. but i would say get it.

get the best car that you can afford and really desire if you are a responible individual....i had a v6 firebird and i did more dumb shit in that than in my trans am or my corvette because those were the cars i wanted and respected that they were 320 and a 345 hp cars.i knew i had nothing to prove with all that power. also i was pissed i wasted the money on the firebird and lost money on the trade in.

A guy I knew worked really hard at a company since he was about 16, and by 22 he had worked his way up(with the help of the college degree he was getting at the time) to where he had a BMW M3. He was coming up an exit ramp off the highway, slowed down to 100 on the ramp and tried taking the turn onto the road, flipped the car 4 times across the six lane road, and walked away. He bought a 911 Twin Turbo a few days later; moral of the story: you can have lots of money at a young age if you work hard, but I guess responsibility only comes with experience.

Black- 2000 Camaro Z28
I got my z28 at 16 but it is my 3rd car(been driving since I was 14)my parents bought it and I have paid them back every cent I owed them for it and paid for all insurance taxes tags and such(glad to have finally paid it off now its mine), but when I got it I was told not to horse around or else i would get it taken away, 2 days after I got it i got in trouble in it and it sat in the garage for a month. I haven't gotten in any trouble with it since. Though I had one at 16 I wouldn't recommend one as a first vehicle, I suggest a truck an '94+ s-10 would be good, a 4.3l is fast enough and theywill take all the shit you can throw at them.
