Red- 2001 WS6 Pontiac TransAm
How hard is it to change out a radiator on a 2001 Trans Am?
I have to replace mine. Mine has a crack thats an inch long that I've tried patching, both with the things you pour into the radiator and with some JB weld. Its on the Rt passenger side about 3 inches below the top. So, whats the time frame im guessing 3 to 4 hours? Any lessons learned if you did it yourself? Thanks.

Never changed one, but when doing my FTRA install the radiator was loose up top after removing a few bolts - without the hoses connected probably would've fallen out. Go for it, shouldn't be hard at all.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but my radiator has a leak in the same place as the original poster's---only mine seems to be only about 1/4".
1. Should I try to patch it?
2. If so, with what?
3. It appears to be plastic. Is it really plastic???
4. Otherwise, how much should I expect to pay a shop to replace it? (parts & all)
Thanks for helping a newb.

you could try to patch it with some plastic weld but my experience has been that stuff rarely holds and if it does it's on borrowed time. Look on here for a used radiator from lsx_heaven and do it yourself. You really only need a couple of hand tools and it's a very easy job..... I could walk my wife through it if that tells you anything.

i think they patched a radiator by cracking an egg into it on mythbusters. but i dont recommend doing that
