Looking for a good set of dumbbells
the title pretty much says it all. Im trying to find a set of dumbbells that range from 25lbs - 50lbs. I have seen that bowflex makes a dumbbell set where you just turn some dial to pick the desired weight. Do these work well? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Walmart in the sporting goods section. They have them from 2-1/2 lbs all the way up to 50lbs. Prices are fairly cheap too.

Well aren't you just a tough guy. I was thinking for curls. I think I have you covered on the presses. whether it is military or dumbell chest presses, and anyways what does it matter what the guy starts with? Even if he started with 10's why would you post something like what you said above?Last edited by The Rookie; 08-27-2006 at 06:54 AM.

I own the Bowflex Selectechs and they work perfectly if all you need is 52.5 lbs per dumbell. They are a bit bulky but space is limited here and by the time you buy weights and a rack they weren't too much more. I caught a great sale on them as well from SportsAuthority with a friends and family discount sale they ran a few months back. 52.5 lbs max per side doesn't get you very far depending on the exercise but as for how they work I have zero complaints.

There just isn't a gym nearby? I've been a personal trainer for the last few years, and started out with a home gym, but that stuff gets expensive and you don't get a lot back out of it.... I finished with a smith machine, 2 sets of high/low cables, a power cage, 3 benches, dipping/chin up station, olympic and standard bars and about 400# worth of weights, around $2500 in stuff. I got $500 back out of it. If you just get some fixed weights you're going to move past it quick, and around .50 cents a pound, the prices add up. You can get adjustable dumbells and buy some plates, but it's a hassle switching them up.
