There are all kinds of FCC regualtions they have to follow too.

Sounds like you have the right cell phone network for where you live. Once you leave that area you are leaving your home network and using a different network. You could go online of your cell provider and look at their map to see how big their coverage for your area is.

Going to another network is no big deal 'cause the networks all "work together". If you came across a network who doesn't normally work with your network... then you go into roaming and that just costs more money.

Every cell site communicates with your phone (uplink and downlink), once the cell tower has your cell id it transmits through the other network back to your home network to verify your infomation. Now that in on another network, you're susceptable to whatever power range and interference goes with that territory. Obviously they're not set up under the same circumstances as what you're used to.

oh and it has more options than the razor, it is a whole lot tuffer than the razor. on the comparison site for cellphones it got 5 out of 5 as opposed to the razors 4.2 out of 5. it was a poll of owners.

I had a black one when it first came out. Loved it and it always had the "Wow!" factor to it. Now, everyone and their brother has one. I gave it to my mom when the SLVR came out. Liked it for a while, but the longer I had it the more I hated it (especially the tiny keypad and low sound)... Got rid of it last week and got a new orange unlocked PEBL and I would never go back to either the SLVR or RAZR.

Cingular here as well if it makes a difference.
