Prime the oiling system?
I am new to LT1's, and wanted to know if there is a way to prime the oil pump prior to starting like you would do to a normal V-8?
Thanks,
Mike

What I do on my new engines is take the connector off of the ignition control module and remove the fuel injector fuses and crank her up. Let her turn over until you see oil pressure on the guage. No problems so far

hey awesome post! Thanks for the question and the reply. I'm rebuilding my engine and figured I'd just use one of those oil pump priming rods... not even really sure how those things worked... but this method sounds even easier!!!! THANKS! I gotta stop drinkin' coffee in the afternoon...

If your engine is out of the car, I used the rod to build oil pressure, Adjusted my valve train and to make sure that I had oil pressure pumping oil to the top end. Hell of a time to find that you have a problem after the engine is in the car.
