Ram Air question????
This is probably a silly question but I was looking into buying a functional ram air hood and I want to know If the airbox is what makes it functional.
It looks just like the one i have now but it is raised...is that all i need to make it functional?
How much power would this ram air system add?
Thanks.

The difference between the stock air box and the gm ram air box does seem to be just that it is raised. If you get a ram air hood from someone like suncoast creations than it is different and does help to have that air box vers the stock one. I have a raptor hood and drove around with my stock air box and an slp lid and switched to there air box. I did notice a SMALL difference in the speed my engine reved, but it could all just be in my head. Most people will tell you that the ram air is pointless. I do feel it is not really worth the money, I chose to go that route for the cosmetic benefits and not so much any performance. I do think if I was side by side a clone of myself with the exact same car minus the hood and air box that I would win, but again thats must my opinion.

i wasnt doing it as a performance mod i was doing it for cosmetic reasons.
but because i was doing it, i wanted to see if there were any gains.
so what i understand is save my money by NOT getting the $250 airbox and by getting the non-functional hood??

Yeah basically the $250.00 is a big chunk for not much. But I do like the way it looks and I think my engine does breath better regardless of actual dyno or butt-dyno numbers. Not sure I would do it again, but I'm also not disappointed in what I got. If that makes any sense at all.
