I got my permit when I was 14. You had to drive with a licensed adult over the age of 25. I drove everywhere for 2 years before getting my license (with parental supervision of course). By the time I got my license I was an incredibly confident driver. Confidence in your ability behind the wheel isvery important for a first time driver.

I think you should get a Drivers licenses , like you get a bike licenses in Japan. You start of with a small CID car then move up. That way if you get pulled over and you have a card for a 4 banger and you are in a Vette , you get you licenses pulled ...

no its not. its the level of skill the driver has. its not physical, so they are strong enough.

good idea, also until you are 18 your car should have a speed limiter at around 60mph, and you should not be able to have more than 1 passenger

most wrecks happen in 4 or 6 cylinder cars. so that doesnt stop the problem. i think it should be legal to hold somebody acountable for there driving actions. so if somebody cuts u off, or runs a stopsign u get to show them what it would feel like to do it infront of an 18 wheeler. im ranting bout bitch that ran stop sign and pulled out infront of my chopper. quad cab dodge vs chopper. bad fucken day.

I think some of these states let a 14 yr old drive because that's the age of consent there Who wants a jr.high kid behind the wheel...at least in CA the age is 15 1/2 for a permit.

I also agree with the japan thing....I also think first year drivers should have to have some sort of sticker on their car like they do in japan.

thats a good idea ..Lke a rookie stripe ...... I think also the actual driveing test should be harder .. If any of my military buddies ever tried to get a on base motorcycle pass knows ...its tough ..But just to go in , take a written test , drive a couple blocks and pass ..There should be a class about a week long with lots of driveing test and practice ...

Farm boys know how to drive I've drove power wheels, tractors, trucks, atv's, motorcycles. I can back up trailers which most kids cant do when the first start driving.
its more like its not me that i worry about, theres too many other dumbshits driving.

that's b.s. not all women are bad drivers, they have better reaction time, if they can stay off the cell phones. I happen to be a great driver, never had an accident. I've also been driving since I was 12 and had to haul a 40 ft. trailer around full of hay and back it up to be unloaded. I think it all ads up to skill and experience.

Plus I work at a Tow Truck Co. we do 80% of the wrecks close to my town because our drivers are the fastest. Anyway I see far less 16-19 years wrecking and totalling their cars than I do 30-33 year olds.

Not tryin to be a prick just stating what I see

Plus there are lots of people older than me that have never driven a car that breaks loose at 50 mph (the chevelle) and would likely end up in a ditch far sooner than I would BTW I've never been close to ending up in a ditch

nice on the Chevelle there man, got one also

i think sometimes its not so much young kids that are super dangerous drivers as it is women 30 to 50 on the phone and seniors.

I think it is the mixing of the 2 ... That is why I said there should be more driveing classes. Remember you dont have to go looking for a wreck , a wreck will come looking for you . You should know what to do when it gets there...

This generation is definatly not motivated. I have 15 yr olds on my block that are learning how to drive and really are not interested in working to get there own car or driving for that matter. Hell when I was 18, it was like you gained some freedom from your parents that you never had before.

teenagers do not have the drive or most are not mature enough to handle driving now-a-days. I feel that 18 would be better for young drivers since there is a little more maturity/responsable at that age. The delima is that at 15 you can start to work and would possibly need to drive to your job. Hence this is the problem if you where to change the age to 18.

I like your idea better. Also, all drivers over the age of 60 should have to take a driving test every 4 years. I am tired of getting behind grandpa and doing 25 mph in a 45 mph zone. The worst is when two older drivers are drag racing (in both the right and left doing 30 mph).
