Jeff, this is about the only thing I can think of that would be close to what you have.

Blew $880 at the casino tonight. This is a regular occurrence the last 1.5 years. I'm going to download my win/loss statement from 2016. Just guessing here, but I'd say I lost around 30-35k. 😣

Yummy! Isn't it some insane amount of sap that has to be boiled down to make a single gallon of syrup?

That's the reason I take 200$ and no credit card to the casino when I got to play poker.

Something like 40-50 gallons of raw sap to make one gallon of syrup.

This is no amateur operation though. They're using a reverse osmosis system to remove a huge amount of the water before it ever gets to the evaporator. The evaporator itself holds around 150 gallons, and they're anticipating 20-30 gallons of finished syrup per hour.

For their sake I hope they do... the fuel oil burner has two stages of firing, both combined will burn 15.6 gallons of oil per hour. All total that's over 2 million btus. By far and away the biggest burner I've ever worked on.

Yeah, my problem is, I can go through a few hundred within 30 min or less. Goes quick at $5-$10 a pull. There is a limit on my ATM card for withdrawal amount per day fortunately. I'm keeping a spreadsheet this year of each visit and I log it to see where I'm at.

Sheesh man. I don't do slots. Just poker. And it's the only table game I play either. Blackjack is too quick of a game. You can play perfect and still lose quickly.

French doors blow. Between cleaning, prepping, painting and then razoring the panes and a final cleaning I bet we have almost 8 manhours total per door. Not being sexist, but "personhours" just didn't seem to work.

Knocked out some minor projects around the house. Cleaned the sink drains, tightened up the headboard on our bed ( ), and then cleaned the ceiling fans and bathroom fans. Probably heading to the parents' and then back down to the office in a bit.

Cheese steaks for dinner tonight. Cooked up some shaved steak we received from our daughter-in-law's parents' farm. Seasoned the steak, melted provolone cheese over it in the pan and then slapped it into some toasted rolls. The stuff straight from the farm seems so much better than store bought meat. Very tender and full of flavor.

There's a lot to be said for fresh from the farm vs store bought. We've (my parents lol) bought beef from a farmer/customer for the last 3-4 years now, and it just doesn't compare to buying from the store. It's tough to swallow the initial price vs buying smaller quantities all year long, but in the end it's so much handier to have it on hand when you want it instead of planning meals.

Our valentines day meal will be T bone steaks from this years beef we picked up a month ago.

that's kinda how I am with deer. Ideally I'd like to pack that freezer up through hunting season and then for the rest of the year if we want meat it's already here. Just takes another step out of meal planning. The years I don't fill that freezer everyone here feels it. This year we'll be good until about august I would guess. Both deer me and zach shot were on the small side so didn't get a ton of meat from them.

Weather was nice this weekend. Got some maintenance done that I've been putting off. Wife picked up a bolt in one of her tires yesterday so that kinda kick started everything. Plugged the tire and rotated them, did oil changes on all the vehicles, and replaced a glow plug in the truck that's been throwing a code for a month. I have a side marker out on the truck that's next on the list....thought I had the bulb here but didn't so I have to run to the parts store tomorrow to get one. I still think I have one here somewhere because I think it's the same bulb in the 3rd brake light and I replaced one of those last summer so there should be one in a pack somewhere. No idea where I would've put it.
