I have driven a Stingray for a few miles(never got above 50mph) which I wouldn't even consider driving. For a bigger guy like me, I would not even think about driving it for any sort of distance and therefore would not have any interest in even driving it to determine what I liked about it.

Never even sat in a Porsche. They look uncomfy IMO though.

I don't get wanting the slingshot if you are going to have bikes. GTR and the Viper are rarer, plus throw some snow tires on the GTR and have some fun in the snow. If you can test all the choices out. Even if you don't get any of them at least you can say your drove them.

I think the new Challengers are one of the best looking cars on the road. By far the best looking out of the big 3 muscle/pony cars.

The H2 is cool but really there are very few people who can ride a 1000cc sportbike to their limit much less an H2. The slingshot is too expensive IMO. You can buy a Subaru BRZ for the same price or cheaper in some cases and get an entire car.... with electronics and comforts etc.

Big ron I respect your choices, and i like the viper alot but have you driven the slingshot? Man it is an experience....indeed it feels like no other car or motorcycle on the planet very unique, completely different from a motorcycle

I agree with you on the challenger it is a great looking car. I prefer the abarth over the brz hands down, way cheaper and easier to make much more power and upgrade.

I have never driven a slingshot. I wonder how it compares to something like an Ariel Atom?

I imagine it would be a respectable comparison, but much more affordable lol with some mods.........

New ZL1 is going to run with, or beat a GTR on a road course. a 5th gen Z28 already beat one, and the sixth gen is that much better.

Maybe in the hands of a professional. But in the hands of a track day novice most people will probably have faster times with the GTR.

I dont concern myself with what amateurs can do, as there would be no basis for comparison. I draw no interest from cars so full of technology that they practically take the skill out of the hands of the driver.

My claim is no less valid simply because it takes greater skill to drive a ZL1 fast than it does a GTR.

False. They compare to a 2 stroke and 4 stroke atv/dirtbike/etc.

The ZL1 is like a 4stroke, tons of low-end grunt down low, don't have to shift much, etc.

The GTR's power is in the far upper RPM range and to drive it to it's potential would be a greater challenge. As Zinergy said, the average and even slightly above average driver will never see the track times that are posted in auto magazines and the websites for either vehicle.

The delimma is............... on there own the ninja H2/abarth/slingshot/brz could not measure up to owning a gtr or zl1 but as a trio that is quite a tempting option...........

Insurance on the trio would be more than any of the others by them selves.

I've driven a GTR, and an older ZL1. I also have a shitload of road course time in Formula Fords and shifter karts, either of which would wipe their ass with a GTR or ZL1. I'm confident when I say you dont understand what you're talking about. Mostly just because you're entirely wrong. I know you havent driven a GTR, otherwise you'd know that it's a speed appliance, which is what Zinergy was eluding to. It's a brain-dead operation in speed. Kind of boring in a way, but still very fast. A high power rear wheel drive car with a true three pedal manual trans is MUCH more challenging than an all wheel drive, paddle shifted car with electronic nannies coming out of its ass.

Edit: considering how awesome the new ten speed auto in the new ZL1 is (quicker shifts than a GTR), a driver need only have skill in knowing how to drive a high power rear wheel drive car to be able to compete with the GTR. It's going to be alot closer than you think, even in the hands of less-than-expert drivers, at least so far as a road course goes. At a drag strip the GTR still wins on the launch alone.

You're thinking of someone else I think. I'm not particularly fond of either Zinergy is right about the GTR though. Most people will get a better time out of it, which is part of its appeal. It's the polar opposite of a Viper ACR. The ACR will blow a GTR off the track with someone skilled driving, but it will put an amateur in the weeds alot faster

So you've driven slow Formula Fords on a road course? Nothing to brag about.

Shifter karts? Please ... I've have sand drag bikes that would get to 70mph before you could get one started.

Now, as for my experiences in a GTR... I spent probably close to a total of 40 hrs in one in north central Utah with a good mixture of mountains, canyon, long flat roads, etc. so I know a good amount of how much skill it takes to apply their power to the road. Yes, I'm sure you can drive it 150mph in a straight line, but I have zero doubts you would not be able to obtain the track times posted in magazines, etc. but by all means, prove me wrong.

Yes, the new ZL1 ten-speed will shift quicker than a GTR ... probably be faster and quicker, but unless I am mistaken, it takes PEOPLE to drive those cars and the vast majority will not be able to drive neither car to their potential.
