advice on what heads to get
So I was planning on doing the PRC as-cast heads from Texas Speed for my build this summer but I saw some Ls7 heads on LS1tech, looks like valves only no rockers or springs but he is asking 300 shipped...I'd like to jump on them, what do you guys think? probably gonna run a 233/239 cam...below is the ad for the heads....
LS7 Heads ported by Frankenstein Racing Heads - 2,300$
Previous deal fell through, so I'm making a new post. Here's all the details.
New, never ran LS7 heads ported by FRH.
Stock titanium LS7 intake valves that have been tumble polished by FRH / Del West.
Stock lash caps for the intake valves
Manley stainless steel solid stem exhaust valves
New spring seats
New valve seals
CHE bronze guides
Rear steam ports have been drilled and tapped, and -4 fittings have been installed
The pushrod holes have been enlarged so they can accept a 1/2" pushrod.
Heads have been machined for shaft rockers. Stock rockers can be used with a rocker stand from All Pro, MAST or TFS. They're about 100$ for the set.

Okay, wait: did you have a typo, or did you not see the "2" in front of the "300" for the asking price? Big difference there!

LQ9/4 and ls2 cannot actually you need a larger bore than they are capable of to. They need a 4.100" bore. The ls3 would need to be bored out as well but IDK if it can be bored out that much. There are some small bore bore versions out there though.

They are really pricey though and probably not worth it. I want to say they are in the $3000+ range. For that you can just get frh ls3 trick flows that flow better.

I thought even the small bore LS7's needed at least a 4.000 bore or something like that.....maybe it was 3.900 though....I don't keep up with this stuff like I used too.

I know I was saying since they don't have a 4.100 bore standard ls7 heads won't work. Small bore will.

Actually you can run ls7 heads on an lq engine, just need to bore. 060". Copo camaros run them with a 4.065 bore. With roughly. 030" cylinder wall clearance... I am trying to get the to fit my 4.030" lq9, intakes clear the 4.0" bore and the exhaust hit the block deck. I may have to turn the valves down to 1.59". From 1.615"
Just an FYI...

there's definitely enough gains there to justify some work getting them to fit....things flow like crazy. Kinda pisses me off when I think about the work and money I put into my car and what the possiblities are now. That's why I try not to think about it when I can help it.

Pretty sure the copo is a 427 (4.125" bore x 4.0" stroke). Might be wrong but that's what I thought it was.
