WS6 Values

I have always been a Camaro guy. I've owned 6 since I turned 16. I'm going to look at a 1999 WS6 today that has 2,500 original miles. Automatic with T-Tops. As I am far from a Trans Am expert I was curious about opinions of value for these incredible cars. This car is in showroom condition and has been pampered for the last 17 years. Pricing on NADA or KBB is ridiculous as they have the value at about $10k which is nuts.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would honestly not be surprised if they want $18k for it if it is as pristine as you say. I paid $11,900 for my 2000 ws6 with 88k miles, 6spd, great condition, normal to little wear, in May 2015. Only mods were a flowmaster muffler, and hood scoop decals.

Sellers know the future rarity of them, and believe that makes them gold. If you want it bad enough you will pay it, if not, I wish you the best on haggling.

If it's a pristine ws6 with just 2500 on it I'm betting they are gonna want more then 20k for it. Low mileage ones have been getting rediculous lately. I saw a 25th anniversary sell for almost 30k with a little over 1k miles on it recently. Your starting to get speculators buying these so they can sit on them and flip them down the road for more.

If you're going to drive it price is not worth it. It's only going to lose whatever potential value it currently has. Now if you're going to store it in the hopes these go up in the next 50 yrs maybe. But IMHO that's a stretch....

The guy is asking $23k. It would not be a daily driver for me and I would look to keep it below 5,000 miles over the next 10 years. It actually has 1,600 miles and I just saw it. It is impeccable. Guy is the only owner and still has the sticker that was for $30,900. Pretty impressed by this car.

Just my opinion...no ill intent. Not saying it's a bad deal. It's just that these cars are meant to be driving not a floor decoration......I couldn't do that.


With cars that sit that long if the fluids, battery not service correctly they as well as seals, gaskets, filters go bad.

I actually agree with you. The car needs to be driven more than 80 miles per year. I need to get my mechanic to take a look at all of the components. I appreciate your opinion and knowledge.

What cracks me up is when you these WS6 cars, especially the 2002s with M6 and low miles are listed on Craig's List with fair market value prices, these idiot trolls on CL flag the ads and they get deleted because they look up the NADA values and whine because they are 'overpriced'... Did I mention I hate Craig's List?

A car is always worth as much as you are willing to pay for it. Yes, the price is on the high side and is no where near blue book. However, look around at all the cookie cutter cars on the road today and then look at the Trans Am. In good condition, I would readily pay north of $15,000 for one today. How high I would go depends upon how badly I want the car. Also, consider whether you are going to keep the car or simply have it for a few years and then try to sell it. That would make a big difference in what I would be willing to pay.

Did you ask if the miles have been spaced out evenly, or if those miles were put on it all in the first year and then the car has just been sitting the last 15 years without being driven? I am always leery of cars with that low of miles on them as sitting for long periods of time without proper lubrication is havoc on the motor.
