Differences between 4gen RS and Z28/SS

So I'm looking for my next project racing car. Found a roller 2000 Camaro RS (non T-Top) that I'm thinking of getting and using as my base. Now my question is whats the differences between a RS and SS/Z28? I know the motors obviously but are the suspensions the same are the rear end's the same? I know other cars Ive built the front spindles and brakes are different from one style car to the other same for rear end's. Just looking for some information.

Suspension isn't the same as there are many option packages between trim levels. I think the gear ratios vary with trim packages as well but I could be wrong. Others will chime in to assist but with the aftermarket support these days, you will receive a lot of options.

Keep in mind that the Camaro in that time frame was kept alive by sharing parts with other models/lines. On the body/frame, I don't think there were any as they were making so few that it wouldn't be worth the trouble to differentiate. The big differences were in the driveline and trim levels of which there were basically two. The suspension tie points were the same. Upgraded control arms(mostly different bushings), springs rates and shock types/tuning for the z/28 & SS. I think all models used the 10 bolt rear just different internals for limited slip. The 1LE is a good place to start for a road car. Drag racing it all comes off , I'm sure.
An easy way to tell, if it still works.... time has marched on, is go to GM Parts Direct and enter what your looking for and see if part #'s cross. If they do, no difference.

Forgive me if this sounds ignorant, but here's a question:

As parts get "updated" and old parts become obsolete (such as the LS1 vs LS6 MAF, the LS1/6 clutch phasing out to the LS7 being the "replacement part" etc), is it possible that what is on his car right now could be an original part that is different from what GM is now using as the "OEM replacement"?

I only ask because if the catalogue reflects the current part numbers (replacement parts) instead of original part numbers, then it's possible he's got something different (if, in fact, parts did "evolve").

Now you said it is a Roller correct, now was it a Ls car or v6 car? If it is a LS-RS car and it should be real close to a Z28 platform. Most of the suspension other than possibly sway bar thickness and spring rates vary. All LS cars came with the standard junk 10 bolt with different gearing from A4 - to M6
Now if you are talking a V6 car then everything is different and if your serious about building a RACE car then it don't much matter because most if not all the suspension should be scrapped for aftermarket stuff that can handle the abuse racing will put on it.
My car has been changed from front to back with bolt on performance and suspension parts to have a stout street driven and 2-3 track days a year car.
