Im thinking the Z06 needs a driver mod...I read the article yesterday and they said that the Viper beat the Z06 in pretty much everything when they compared the two. I also read that the Z06 has so much downforce at higher speeds that it is slowing the car down. GM had the same issue with the Z28.

I'm a consumer who has money down on this car. Being that I have skin in the game, and have been hearing negative reviews and concerns about a car that was hyped to bring the Corvette to the "next level" of performance, I want to find out as much as possible and make sure the money is well spent.

well...the viper is faster lol but the Z06 looks absolutely amazing...and I think with the right driver "Stig maybe...?" it would walk a viper around a track. When I say walk, I mean win by maybe a second or less on a road course...they seem pretty even except for top speed pulls.

You could just keep adding to the first thread...
Sounds like you may not have done enough research first

I think he had it right the first time by wanting the Viper...but thats just my opinion.
Both cars are beasts...but for some odd reason I personally keep getting pulled towards the viper.

Meh can't bring myself to ever consider that kind of coin on a new Mopar/Fiat product. Saw too much dumb shit when I was a slowpar tech and well let's think about Fiat's record
House is a far better purchase for the lad though...

Fiat is still the parent company now... Just like Mercedes wasn't fucking up Chrysler 10-15 years ago

I understand its the parent company...but the viper program is not run by Fiat and it sure as hell isnt built by them...I get what you are trying to say, but I dont think it applies to this car. If you were talking about a minivan, Chrysler 200, or a Jeep Cherokee I could agree with you. But Fiat didnt really have a hand in this car. SRT did most of the work and its built in Detroit.

Fiat is the reason I abandoned all thoughts of a new Wrangler (I checked reliability)
But like Orange says, Fiat didn't have a hand in the Viper (yet) even though the money goes to them.
Wonder what the folks at GM think of this vid?
Also, the 8 speed auto is supposedly faster.

I had reservations to begin with about buying the first model year of this car. I'd like to see if the Z06 is offered down the road with stage 2 aero with exposed carbon, and CCB. Rumors are also surfacing of an 800 HP FI Viper

the 200 lb weight gain certainly isn't helping anything. Shit...at this point we're getting to what our Fbodies came in at back in the day.

ZO6 wasn't built for high speed roll racing, so not surprised. It's going to rape the viper on any kind of road course, and the magazines already ran one to an 11.1@127, which is faster than ZR1 mag times. In the hands of owners it will likely win at the dragstrip against the viper as well.

I'm sure we will see some 10 sec stock 1/4 mile times once people really start getting their hands on the car. It's not the top speed or one video of it losing to a Viper that I'm worried about. It's the claims made by members on Corvetteforum, including Vengeance Racing that this thing gets heat soaked after a couple laps, and also pulls a ton of timing.
