stud girdles on LT1?
I bought a 1995 Z28 has crane stud girdle that the giy installed before me. He has drilled 3 holes into them to bolt valve covers on. I wojld like to get rid of them so i can run stock valve covers. How ever the cam is 609 lift and has 1.5 rockers. Car gors 6500-7000 rpms would it be fine to get rid of girdles or would that be to much strain on the studs?

Silver & Blue- 02 Camaro SS, 04 GTO
609 is a pretty big cam. What other mods does the engine have and are you going to be spinning it up to 7k often.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

I wouldn't compromise the strength of the valvetrain just to be able to run stock valve covers. Girdles do provide extra strength and rigidity at higher rpms.
