Digital Camera Suggestions Please
Im looking into getting a nice digital camera but I dont have the money to invest in a REALLY nice one. Right now, my budget is arround $3-400. I dont need one with crazy funny functions, just one that takes really nice photos. If anyone has a digital camera that takes nice photos, feel free to post a pic from it.
thanks,
BOOSTD

I have an Olympus, about five years old, maybe six. Really good pictures. One thing you need to pay attention to is the zoom capability. Optical zoom is better than digital zoom. Digital zoom can get really grainy.

take a look at dpreview.com
there is a ton of info. on that site. I have the fujifilm finepix s7000z. I bought it in 2003 so it may be discontinued by now. I have nothing but good things to say about it...however i'm still learning how to do things on it....so if you want a simple point and shoot camer this may not be for you (it does have standard settings but to get the best pictures you have to adjust the settings to fit the atmosphere). I paid around 800 for the camera and a 1 gig chip in Jan. 2003. If they still make the 7000 it should be around 3-400 by now.Last edited by mdh100; 05-21-2006 at 07:55 PM.

Anything you get will probably give you great pictures nowadays, 4 megapixel cameras come cheap enough and take great pictures. I have an awesome kodak, the best aspect is that it came with a dock and a rechargable lithium-ion battery. I have NEVER had it go dead on me, even after being off the dock for a few weeks prior to a 400+ picture use at a car show. It's hard to get that out of a camera that runs on AAs.

I have a sony dsc600....it's a great camera especially for the price...it was like $180 at best buy.

It will chew through AA batts if you use the flash all the time...especially if you use the red-eye reduction. But even then you'll get 250+ pics out of 2 AA's...and it's pretty compactLast edited by SeVeReDiStOrTiOn; 05-21-2006 at 10:29 PM.

Maybe the better lines last a little longer than I've seen. The chick that lives with me can put some in and take about 20 pics with her $400 HP-iece of shit. Her mom has a more recent more expensive HP that isn't any better. Hey, if I contributed anything to this thread, it's don't buy an HP

You can't lose with an Olympus with a big zoom.
EON is even better. I saw some pix with 26 MP Studio EON and it looked like it was alive and better than the actual moment of the pic you're taking.
However price is around 5 grand.
If you want to go the cheapy route Kodak's for about $50 such as the 3.1 (I'm using a 2.0) is always great as they make outstanding pix.
Too many to choose from

Whatever you get don't go below 5 megapixels....that's if you want to print out photos and have them look good. But if you just want to get a digi cam to post pics on the net and email then any mp is good. Most of the time I have to downgrade the pics to 640x480 to post them anyway
