In all honesty, I have probably represented bigger douchebags than those boys through the years. My criminal clients have run the full gamut -- from small potatos like harassment and public drunkeness to burglary, rape, murder and everything in between over the years. Odd as it may seem, I prefer criminal defense over most other types of law that I practice in.
Morning.

one reason why I never will become a lawyer is my absolute lack of faith in our legal system... From what I've heard when the court appoints a lawyer it's a crap shot if they choose you and then you have to represent someone who is a scumbag... I always wondered if that is true...

Criminal defense is a challenge and I do enjoy it. When I was younger, I would get appointed to all sorts of cases and that gave me a pretty good background. Now, I can pick and choose what I do and if something just doesn't smell right to me on a case, I will take a pass and refer it elsewhere. Overall, very few defendants get to walk away from a case no matter what I do -- that is just the nature of how it works and is not a reflection of my abilities (or lack thereof). To me, there are really degrees of criminal. Some people are just rotten to the core and always will be, some start out bad and then turn things around, and sometimes good people do really dumb things. The latter two categories are where I really get to challenge myself to obtain the best possible disposition in a case. In any event, I will take a criminal case any day of the week over a divorce or custody matter.

Another day and more rain on tap.
Looks like the GDCC is meeting up for dinner at Bejing Garden tonight. They have the area's best Chinese food imo.

Last night my niece brought over her new BF for dinner. He's off to a good start.
(1) drives a Hyundai Genesis Coupe (nice car)
(2) Loves Camaros and Trans Am's - fairly knowledgeable about them.
(3) Well mannered, doesn't come off as a DB.
Makes me wonder how much my niece prep him

I'm wondering what's wrong with my teenager. didn't want to buy a wonder woman costume, no, she wanted mom to make her one. I should have invested in a sewing machine. ugh.
