SES Question
I'm aware that removing the cats will result in the SES light coming on the dash. On my previous Z28, I had my cats removed and put pipes in place, which in turn threw a code and my SES light.
I wanted my car louder so I dumped my exhaust right after the rear axle.
As I wasn't sure if removing the muffler would cause an SES light because it was already on due to no cats.
My question is, will removing the muffler cause an SES light? I currently have no dash lights(SES, warning lights)on my car dash and want to keep it that way.
I want to get rid of my muffler and install this.
Will this throw a code?
Thanks for the responses in advance.

Nope. You should be fine. You just want to have enough pipeage under the car that the front O2 senders do not get exposed to outside air. You can either tune out the rear O2's or plug in a set of sims to get rid of the SES light.

You want loud and still be consider "having a muffler" look for some Loudmouth I or II's. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the replies.
Not to worried about the neighbors. My last Z had no cats and no muffler and no one said a thing.

Black/ Silver- 98 TA WS6/ 01 C5 Corvette
That is basically what my Loudmouth set up looks like. There are no sensors on the muffler so removing it would not throw a SES code.

Turns out I don't have the stock muffler like I thought was on it. Had it on a lift getting an oil change the other day and noticed its a Magnaflow muffler.
I assumed it was stock muffler with aftermarket tips because of how quite it is.
I need a louder muffler and am kind of confused as to why the Magnaflow is so quite?

I have Magnaflow on our car -- it is quiet down low, but has a nice rumble when you crack on it. Easiest upgrade is to install a cutout -- it is actually my favorite upgrade on our car and I use it all the time.

Pewter- 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6
I have a magnaflow muffler on mine and a e-cutout quiet when cops are around or when i need them quiet and damn loud with it open. I also have long tube headers on it. But even with the cut out closed if I hit the gas hard it can be very loud. Just the nature of magnaflow quiet most of the time loud when it matters.
