Pewter Metallic- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
Thanks guys the WS6 wheels were on it when I got it, would you believe that this car has 4 brand new tires with an existing warranty? The original owner was a female, she had the engine rebuilt by jasper engines last year I have the receipts and the engine still has 2 years left on the warranty it also has a new radiator the shop I got it from installed it for free the original radiator had a hair line crack in one of the tanks the car wasn't running hot or nothing but in Houston with the heat running a car with a hole in the radiator will only make matters worse so I changed that ASAP im about to start searching for a ws6 Z28 or SS now so I can get this ls1 conversion started quick question are the v6 & v8 auto transmissions the same?

Nice car now to answer your question.
Yes, any LS1 will do. You also need the wire harness and pcm. Depending on the yr of the pcm you may need the instrument cluster to. Example my none of the 99-02 clusters will work with my 98 pcm. Neither will your V6 cluster work too. If you find a donor car look for one that the rear has taken the hit vs a front. You'll be better off getting parts to swap over. The rear end in the V6's are the same as the V8's. There is more Jeremy Look at the Frankenbird build and he can tell you more. The current body was a FB and is now becoming a Trans Am.

Nice car.
I just sold my Pewter 2001 Y87/W68 Bird today.
Did anyone mention the tranny? you need an LS specific trans a trucks would do then use your V6 tailshaft
Check your option sticker my V6 had a posi rear and 3.42's and it was an A4.

Remove the rear springs, take off the isolators. Take some ¾ inch heater hose, and cut a slit parallel along the host and wrap it around the top coil where the isolator was. You might also be able to spray the hose with wd40 and just slide it around the top coil without cutting a slit in it. Then reinstall. That will lower the car just a touch in the back, 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.
