Switch under the dash...
There is a switch under the dash, further back than the hatch release, but in the same area. I saw an old post on here from 2010 asking the same question, what does it do? Most said it was not factory and eventually it was said that it was a red light by the pedals? I have the same switch in my 2001 WS6. Its round on/off switch about the size of a penny. Any ideas?

Push it!!!!! Either you car won't start now telling you the switch is a hidden ignition interruption device or your car will explode in a brilliant display of thermonuclear annihilation. If the first, great now you know what the switch is for. If the second, you really won't care now will you.

My guess would be a killswitch but could be light, linelock etc no real way to tell till you hit it

As you can see in the pic, the dash is actually molded around the switch. This does not look after market, the dash panel bumps out to fit the switch it self. I called GM, Pontiac tech line and asked, they called me back to say the switch was for the hatch release...I laughed and said I'm not that dumb! I didn't bother to call them back! Does anyone else have this on there TA's?

Aftermarket switches have gotten a lot cleaner looking. Are you sure the bump in the moulding is not part of the switch itself?

yep....that's aftermarket. The "bump" you're seeing is part of the switch. It could be for almost anything though like everyone else is saying. Whatever it controls might not even be on the car anymore. Does the car have a linelock, aftermarket alarm, ect ect? Just push it and see what happens. Other than that it looks like you'll be chasing wires.

Like the others said that's aftermarket. Switches have come a long way. My cut out switch looks the same just different graphics on it. Just hit it. At worst its a kill switch and the car won't start till its turned back off.
