I picked up a shaker hood today for a whopping 40$. I passed on the t/a fenders (too much rust for my tastes) and I'm waiting for him to pull the rear bumper cover off before I pull the trigger on that as well. I am dealing with another guy on a semi-complete 400ci shaker right now, only part I will still be missing in the end is the air cleaner base, but I will probably have to come up with something else to adapt to a different style air cleaner. According to all of my research, the only shaker base that will fit properly and allow correct shaker alignment on my 350 is from a 305 T/A, of which there were very few produced, and even less to pull parts from.

Also, I don't think it spun a bearing. I think it ate it.

I'd love to show you what one looked like, but they're tough to find pictures of since they're so few. Best I can come up with is that the housing itself measures 15-1/2" diameter and the snout points to the passengers side, a 301 base measures 15.5 as well but points to the drivers side, and the 400/403 bases measure 16", the 400 is 'centered' around the carb, and the 403 is offset. All the different engine combinations had different amounts of 'rise' to the shaker base as well as the air cleaner base, so mixing and matching is pretty much not possible. If I can pick up that shaker in selinsgrove, it's off of a 400. I will probably have to fab something, but time will tell.

If it just needs the snout moved to make it work for your car, consider it done. That's not at all a problem, so if you find one to modify go ahead and get it.
Below Williamsport, just off 180 East in Turbotville. The seller said he is the third owner, knows the guy he purchased it from and that the car has been around that area since new.

I'll just make what I get, work. I'm not interested in paying a fortune for something that won't fit later on once I start doing stuff to that engine.

Monday. I have part two of a civil trial this afternoon. Part one was pure torture, some clown out of Bloomsburg that calls himself a home security expert. He screwed stuff up something fierce at a local farm... total fucktard.

Apparently heads need a little bit of work to accommodate 1/2" pushrods. 950 lbs spring pressure.
