Chris Kyle killed today
Some of you might know of and recognize this guy. He wrote the book American Sniper, had over 150 confirmed kills in Iraq and was on that Stars Earn Stripes show as Dean Cain's partner. He was shot and killed at a gun range today trying to help a former soldier with PTSD. The saddest part for me is he gave so much for his country and when he finally got to settle down with his wife/two kids he was gunned down. Doesn't seem fair. RIP

That's fucked up. No mention of a motive for the shooter.

He was volunteering at a gun range to help Marine Veterans suffering with PTSD and part of the therapy is shooting at the range when one of the veterans snapped and shot him and other guy.

This is very sad, like Shane said he just had time to settle down and then this happens. I can't even imagine what his wife and kids are going through.
RIP to a great SEAL

Very very sad.
I've had experience with a couple Vietnam Vets that suffered PTSD. Both while bar tending. It was a very scary experience both times. They both went back in time for a while. One that I didn't know, was pissed off that I was "there" and was adamant that I had no business being there. That I would be killed. He wanted physically grab me and take me to safety. He had to be escorted out by my other customers. The other time, different bar, I knew the man personally. He was a close friend of my Father and was able to call my Dad and have him come down to help calm him and bring him back to reality. Both were so very sorry. But, I can't blame either one of them. It's a horrible consequence of war that some of our Vets take home with them.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I'm sure some of the 255 acclaimed people he killed also had children, wives, family, friends and loved ones. It's sad war exists, and hatred. It's sad when ANY shooting occurs on this planet.

I'm not sure I am understanding your comment. What exactly are you trying to say here? That it's somehow his fault, or we shouldnt feel sorry for Chris Kyle, or what? The guy did the job he was trained to do, had to kill people along the way, and probably saved alot of other lives in doing that killing. I'll save my thoughts for Chris Kyle, and not the relatives of the people he killed, which were probably all terrorists trying to kill american soldiers.

Huh.. ok. Seems like I got your stance on it pretty well then. I'm not too sad over the terrorists and enemy fighters he has killed. I didnt quote it because that part of your post was clearly your attempt to justify what you were saying otherwise. Seems kind of Westboro-ish in the sentiment.

I'm not sad over it either - the terrorists being killed that is. I think you have the false presumption by my statement that I don't find the death of an American soldier sad. I do. I feel any killing is sad, regardless of why or how. A lot of people are being affected by war and other acts of evil. That was simply my point. My statement wasn't intended to mean I hold the deaths of any one higher than another. Yes, I understand that soldiers are trained to kill the enemy. Just like the enemy is trained to do what they do. It's an all around sad event these things exist at all. I think you misinterpreted what I meant, or maybe I didn't clearly write it looking back. It wasn't an attempt to disregard Chris Kyle or his loved ones in any way. I have several family members who have served and friends still serving. I respect what they do. Deep down I still don't condone killing in any fashion though. I understand its warranted to protect and serve us though.

Extremely sad. I just completed his book. Very good book for those who have not read it. He talks (at the end) about the ranch where he was murdured..it was part of his new career.
PTSD? My opinion...BULLSHIT. I served in combat...I know guys who were jerks before AND after combat. Serving Combat did not make them any different. if anything, one with PTSD should be withdrawn, sad (i experienced it). It's a stupid crutch being abused by too many. No disrespect intended..
