Should be Ravens and Atlanta. ATL blew it. I could care less who wins now. Glad NE lost though. That was some at home record they had when winning at the half with Brady; 63-0. Now 63-1.

"Flaccid" - lol. Yeah, inconsistent QB, leading an inconsistent team.

I was shocked how that game turned out. Belichek needs to find a good RB. But maybe the injuries to cornerbacks was the deciding factor. The injury to Atlanta's running back seemed to mar that game. It's a shame if teams' seasons end early due to injuries.

Anyway, San Francisco should now win the title (over the jerkier brother's team). I'm starting to think the SF Super Bowl win streak is due to luck, i.e., overachieving AFC opposition.

Yeah it certainly has nothing to do with the 49ers having been lead by some of the best QBs to ever play the game.

That has nothing to do with it. It's all about Irish pots o' gold, four-leaf clovers, lucky horseshoes and planet alignment.

Unfortunately, injuries are part of the game. They can and will happen at the most inopportune times. How a team prepares for and adjusts to the lineup change that follows is also part of the game. It's strategy. Making the 'what if' arguments about injuries is pointless. The fact is, SF adjusted to Smith being injured quite well this season. Falcons didnt have a backup plan to their run game, and literally dropped the ball when it mattered most. New England just plain didn't show up to win.

My coworkers and I were conversing this morning about the games this weekend, and the general consensus seems to be that based on last years playoff run, this year's season, and this years playoff run, that Tom Brady has started on the path to retirement. This is the first season where it is very apparent that he just doesn't have it like he used to. This isn't to say that he sucks, mind you. But it's been very apparent this year, because every time he's encountered a situation where he used to just turn it on and get it done, now he fails. Brady is largely responsible for last night's loss, throwing two very painful interceptions. This is the kind of thing he just never did. The energy just doesn't seem to be there anymore either. He looks tired.

I think the end of another era is approaching, Peyton and Brady are getting old. Hard to believe.

Hard to believe, but true. As much as I hate the Patriots, I do have respect for Brady, he is one of the best for sure. He was definitely not himself this last game. Poor Manning...I really like that guy. I kinda hope he tries at least one more time for a ring.

Some of the old 49ers teams were great. Still, it takes luck to win all 5 Super Bowl appearances. Like facing the Bengals twice and the Chargers once, franchises probably without any seasons as favorites to win even the AFC. This year San Francisco already has lucked out in the other team's good running back getting hurt (on average, RBs seem pretty good at staying healthy enough to play). Kaepernick is no Montana or Young, at least not yet, and the team isn't built around having a great QB. Meanwhile, Baltimore had the worst of all the AFC playoff teams and now is set for the Super Bowl, likely giving San Fran another trophy to add to an annoying mystique.

What on God's green Earth have you been smoking?? Your opinion is just that, and so is mine, but you think the Bengals are better than the Ravens?

And was wrong with those Bengals teams that the 9ers beat in the SB?? Both of those games were decided by 5 points or less, and were great games to watch.

Did you play the trumpet or the flute in band, because you sure as hell never played any sports in a successful manner. I don't criticize people for the opinion they have on something, but your logic is plain retarded.

I got to agree, I think Brady is on the tail end of things and don't think he will probably get another chance at that 4th ring. Brady is still very very good with great protection, but the way to beat him is to pressure him, he just can't get it done like he used to could. Peyton I think has 2 more 13-3 years in him, then first round exits.

There is not a team that has won a Super Bowl that hasn't had some good luck during their journey there. You cannot win a super bowl without some luck, period.

I agree with that. But 5 of 5 (or, in a few weeks, likely 6 of 6) virtually requires a lot of luck.

I forgot this year's Bengals. Yeah, Baltimore probably is better, but not by much. It does annoy me that the Redskins got knocked out fast in an injury-related way while a team that is no better and shouldn't have won more than 1 playoff game is now in the Super Bowl. If San Fran wins, people will be praising the franchise and maybe an a-hole coach (almost as unlikeable as Belichek) and saying Kaepernick is a great young QB - and if he plays lousy, it's almost a guaranteed Ravens win. Lose-lose for a football fan who thinks champion teams should be truly great teams. New England or Denver vs. Green Bay - that would have been a much more appropriate match-up.
