Heh.... our washing machine took a dump today and my husband went out to do his last minute shopping today and was eying new washers and dryers. He just got through telling me to go to Sears.com and check out the sets he looked at. And I just got through telling him we don't need a new dryer

Everyone loves buying new stuff though

I'm finally done with Christmas shopping, maybe, I might go out and get the wife one more thing. I broke down and got my son an ATV, he thinks I might get him a bigger bike this year so he's in for a suprise. Hope you all have a great Christmas

Wife asked me to go finish shopping with her, I give her the Bart stare (she knows I hate going because of the ppl)

So then she quickly mentions that we need to straighten up the house for tonight and I jumped at that thinking it would take an hour at most.......

An hour into it and I now realize she tricked me.......

I make more than my father does. They still go overboard. They spend around 6-700 on each of us, buy for their nephews and cousins, best friends, and a few other people. Probably spend around 3K or so. I keep my limit to $150/person so I only spend around $700. I did buy myself $1500 in goodies this year too though.

It's more than they can afford, but I guess they still like seeing us 3 boys opening a lot of gifts. I ended up getting my mother a Bulova watch. Hope she likes it.

well......like a flash it was all over. I know some of you younger people don't get the "having kids" thing and I get it....from the outside looking in it doesn't look very appealing. I promise you though that having kids is a very rewarding thing. I think one of the biggest things it does to you is teaches you to get joy from other people's happiness. Nothing makes me happier than to see my kids happy. Today....they were happy happy happy.

My wife worked last night and didn't get home until 8am. Chloe was the first one up. She came bursting in at 7:30 hollering "Santa came Santa came". I get up and we go out to look at the presents under the tree. She was bouncing off the walls. The racket woke Zach up upstairs. I hear a thud as he jumped down from his top bunk position and then "thump thump thump" across the ceiling followed by the "rumble rumble rumble" of him coming down the stairs. He came running into the living room and then stopped in disbelief looking at all the stuff under the tree. I sent my wife a text and she said she was about 15 minutes away. The kids were going through the stockings and stuff so I told them to come lay down in the bed with me until mom got home so she could get to see them open everything up. We go lay down and Zach says " I guess I'm not getting drums...there wasn't a big enough box to have drums in it."
By this time they're about to come out of their skin with excitement so I let Zach call my wife and he says " You better hurry....we can't wait any longer." and my wife tells him she just pulled in the driveway. Off they go. Like a bat out of hell to open the door for mom. They ran out into the garage and there were the 2 big wrapped presents.....his drums and Chloe's Barbie Dreamhouse that she didn't think she was going to get because I had told her it's too big. All the jumping and screaming started all over again. They both immediately knew exactly what they were.
It was a great day. We opened all the gifts here then went to their Grand Pa's and opened some there and stopped by my brother's on the way home and they opened a couple more there. As a kid there's no day better than Christmas and as a parent there's no day better than watching your kids on Christmas.

    ps

I learned something today. Me + airsoft machine gun + cat = a shit ton of fun. Those things are tough to hit on a dead run through the house. Fortunately it's a full automatic gun and I was able to lead it enough. Now there's 100 damn plastic bb's all over the house.

I always get or make a gag gift for my two brother-in-laws. Since acquiring the house down by Beaver Springs Dragway, I have been attempting to get Mark to come join us at the track, but he always has an excuse. Rich has been down a couple of times and really enjoys it. Mark's gift this year was a "Track Day Excuse" dial that he can spin anytime I invite him down:

Taped to the back was his real Christmas present, a gift certificate for Jeg's. Rich, who is dating a total hog right now, received a "Dating for Dummies" book and his gift certificate was at the start of the section on sex etiquette while dating.

Sounds like you guys had a great Christmas! I miss those days. Nothing like Christmas morning when you have small children in the house. Although, no way in hell my son has ever slept until 7:30 in the morning on Christmas day. He was more the up at the crack of dawn type

He's adorable My son plays drums, bass and guitar. Soon he'll be having friends over for jam sessions. After a while, you'll learn to tune it out

well....that's why we got an electronic set. Headphones. Also....I'll probably be rocking right there beside him. I've been playing guitar for 25 years. I put him a bunch of songs on his mp3 player and the drum set mixes them so he can play along with them. I put a ton of ac/dc on there because that's simple stuff to start out on. So he went straight to Avenged Sevenfold I'll let him beat on them a while and then I'll get him started ( I played drums a long long time ago). After that I'll get him in some lessons. He's shitting in high clover right now.....he's wanted drums for a while.

From AC/DC to Avenge Sevenfold? He'll be wanting a double bass set before you know it!

he needs a real amp first....problem is he's too tight with his money. I asked him if he wanted to spend some of his xmas money and get an amp....he said "maybe $50 worth". I'll chip in with him and buy him a decent practice amp. After he gets better then we'll talk about double kickers. The wife can play keyboards and Chloe can sing. We'll be like the Brady Bunch.
