2001 3.8 Black - sold- 2000 SS Black M6
Intimidated a ricer, made a Jeeps day, and then got killed.
All in 4 miles....
I was out running some errands, and as I leave destination #1, a 240ZX (i think) pulled out behind me. It was almost done well, other than the fact that the paint wasn't consistent, AND the front clip was black, but it sat low, no stupid body kits, dark gun metal rims, and prob 295 or 305 series tires on the back. I could tell he was going to chase me down, and at the next red light he was behind me, so I just shifted 1-2 and 2-3 a few thousand RPMS higher than normal.....he dropped back, then pulled a ricer flyby after I turned my blinker on and got in the turn lane.
A little ways down the road after my turn a hear something odd beside me, and sure enough it was a mid 90s Jeep Cherokee revving at me....a lot....we were going down the highway at about 65, but whatever....after several cycles of this i see its a 40's dad and some older teenage kids, he doesn't want to race, he just appreciates my car, so i give them a few revs back, and get big thumbs up. About the time traffic cleared so i dropped a few gears and put many car lengths on them at WOT....they caught up and passed me, obviously enjoying it, and then made a turn themselves.
Immediately I see a a red 5th gen up ahead of me, I'm still at highway speeds, but hes at a big speed drop, so I catch up with him. At first I thought it was a ZL1, but once I got closer it wasn't, he had a 1st gen "SS" emblem instead of the bowtie on the back, and had the equivalent of a black berger panel, and black stripes. I stayed behind him, honestly not trying to start anything, my turn was also coming up, but he must have seen me and floored it, leaving some nice black lines down the highway, from 55 I might add. The car sounded pretty raunchy when he stepped on it, I heard it quite well over my LTs with open pipes, and stereo. I never would have stood a chance, but like i said, my turn was coming up quickly.
Then I found out I have $300 worth of front suspension damage from a thanksgiving day pothole....ruined my fun day...
What kind of work would the SS have done to it to leave those kind of tread marks from 55mph?

If the weather is nice (above 65 degrees out), my car will dead hook out of first and I have 500rwhp.
This is with 275/40 R17 Nitto Drag Radials.
If it's colder out, traction is non-existent until I hit around 70MPH. The car is dangerous to drive.
When I had regular street tires and was stock, I could roast the tires all the way through 3rd gear. Now, with my suspension mods and new tires I do not even get a bark when I shift at WOT into 2nd.
If I was to put brand new street tires on my car now I am doubting I would be able to get any sort of traction at all, at any speed. I would be afraid to drive my car with street rubber.

very nice...my traction improved greatly when I put the 295 KDWs on and adjustable lower control arms

LCA's definitely helped you out. An aftermarket torque arm would also improve your traction. Aside from tires, those are two of the suspension mods which helped me most. I didn't notice too much of an improvement with the adjustable PHB, but the car feels pretty solid.
Sometimes I miss just being able to do a burn-out, but traction wins races so it's all good.

my suspension list, in order, would be
SFC's
Torque arm
Panhard.
Once thats done im getting Konis and springs.
I hate how noisy my LCAs are, but i def enjoy what the provide. just switching lanes and hitting the center stripe reflectors sounds like my car is going to fall apart

I don't hear mine at all. Even with roto-joints I don't think you should be able to hear it. Are you sure they are torqued properly?

on smooth roads they are fine, its only on bumps or heavy cracks that they are noisy.
I recently had my car at the alignment shop and asked if theyd check them out for me but they said no.
Im thinking about taking them off completely and starting over, just to see if it makes a difference
