What year car do you have? When you say the center armrest is cracked are you talking about the soft cover or the hard plastic plate inside? I have seen a lot of covers getting deformed and pulling out from the plate and some with covers torn along the edges but I've not seen anything I would call a crack.

My guess would be someone either put a lot of pressure with the point of their elbow or did something like stepping on it or putting a knee on it when crawling across the interior. It may have been cracked for a while before finally becoming noticeable. Keep an eye out for a lid with a ratty cover on e-bay and you should be able to get a new plate cheap then reassemble yours if the cover is still good. Important point to note in the future, it is called an "armrest" for a reason :-)

I would imagine it's pretty easy to find that piece..
Least it's not as cheap as the LT1 style Camaro's.
The cheap ass design caused the lid to just snap completely off the console..
Ask me how I know..lol

Bright Rally Red- 2001 Chevy Camaro Z28
I bought an entire center console out of a junked car to replace the one in my '94. Crappy design, for sure.
The lid for the '98-'02 cars isn't cheap. I looked online awhile back and saw where it was going for well over $150 new. Best bet is to find one from a junked car.2001 Chevy Camaro Z28 A4

Mine is cracked too, I try not to lean on it too much. Currently talking with someone about a possible solution/fix. If we resolve it I'll post a sticky thread.

I had to replace mine. It started cracking when the car was a couple years old. I replaced it about three years later. No problem since then.
