I'd love to see some pics of the hoses to see exactly what you have going on there. You can upload pics to photobucket and then copy/paste the [img] link into the thread. Photobucket is free. Could it be your air pump you hear running? There's an air injection pump under the drivers side headlight. There's an access panel under there to get to it. There's also a relay and fuse in the fuse box under the hood for the air pump....try pulling that relay or fuse and see if the noise goes away.

That shitty mpg will get better if you get a tune done.

+1 for some pics. Shoot the engine bay from a couple of different angles and post them up. That'll help us understand what you have.

I had no problem pulling my housings apart but for the life of me I could never get them to stay together no matter what epoxy, jb weld, etc I used. Mine would be fine and then split apart again, maybe it was due to the hot humid florida weather that just made them expand and contract too much who knows lol. if its working for you then by all means I just got to the point to where I said well hell if the original ones last 10 years before crapping out then its ok if get another 10 out of new ones lol.

i cant win for losing. the wires, maf, and filter came today. because of the higher valve covers the wires are a couple inches too short, the slp maf is much larger than the delphi so now neither the connector to the airbox or to the throttle body will fit, and i was so discouraged i didn't even try the k&n air filter because i figured everything else wouldn't work so it probably wouldnt either... so much for wrenching on the bird tonight... looks like its time to hit up the xbox 360 for some forza 4 and play with that ws6. at least it runs...

What wires did it have before? I'm sure you could find a adapter at a Lowe's or Home depot that goes from 5 inches to 4 inches or something similar.

At that price you bought a project car. Sorry to say. Myself I wouldn't buy a car without seeing it in person first. It's easy to see how a car has been maintained that way. Good luck to you, I wouldn't know where to begin with some of your issues.

If my garage had more room and was in better shape I'd already have it pulled apart. Kinda hard to do with a 2.5 car garage with the t/a, a crown vic, a motorcyle, a 31" snow blower, a mulcher/woodchipper, 2 lawn mowers, 2 parts/chemical storage cabinets, and other random crap in it. I think when I get my new garage next year I'll see about getting a couple extra feet put on the back and the left side... But I am to the point with the car I'd like to pull it off of the engine and go through each piece myself so i know it's done right... Although I can't really complain too much. To buy a decent stock ws6 looks like it'd cost 10-12k+ and then dump another 4-5k in it in the parts already in this one I think I did ok. Even if I have to dump a few grand into it it's still a deal. Just frustrating is all.

Well if it makes you feel any better I bought my 2000 camaro ss 6 speed standard with 90,000 miles for 7500. When I got it home I promptly realized I needed a transmission rebuild, a new rear differential, a new knock sensor and o2 sensor. 3000 later and now its running good. Oh and the paint on the ground effects started chipping off like crazy. When the kid brought it to me he said he tryed to clean it with a presser washer and chipped the paint.

I second all of the advice the Forum Members have given you. As far as Trans AM's go, you won't ever find a more knowledgeable and helpful crew. It made a world of difference for me to be able to pick the Forum's brains when I first acquired my 2002 WS6.
Hey Karl, that good friend of yours could very well have an attention deficit. If all he did was listen to the start up he didn't do you any favors. As previously stated, he didn't give it time to warm up and try to idle and it seems he didn't drive it. Maybe he just had one too many hits on the wacky weed on his way over there. Or maybe he's one of those 50 footer appraisers: "Yup, it looks good from here old buddy".
Anyway, it's got some good stuff going for it and the tune will most likely make you glad you own it.
