Finally had it at my job and let some douchebag know!
Semi long story but I'll keep it as short as possible
:
Working Security at a Kidney Clinic last night (Escort Patients/Employees to vehicles because a really rough part of town) and some guy pushed me til I pushed back. Guy was a patient and leaving so I opened the door for him and greeted him like I greet everyone, "How are you doing tonight sir." He answered back with, "Don't follow me to my car." Now he was smiling while saying this and his body language didn't indicate anything to suggest I pass on my Duties and allow him to walk alone so I took 1 step towards him after he exited the Building and all hell broke loose on his end.
Him: What the Fuck don't you get when I tell you I don't want to be followed
Me: Sir, its my job
Him: None of the other guys do this.
Me: Then they are not doing their job properly per the clients requests and I am. I can't vouche for other employees, just myself.
Him: You really don't have a fucking clue do you.
Me: If none of the other people escort you sir, then how did you know I would escort you (Caught him in a lie but was still professional about it)
Him: You really have some fucking balls to be arguing with me, I told you I don't want you to fucking follow me so shut the fuck up and don't follow me. Its pretty easy even you should be able to manage that.
This is at the point I snapped verbally and had heard enough from him and his cussing. I always call everyone sir/ma'am when I work and most of the time I do it when I'm out and about just because it is a habit from the Military. My quotes are pretty damn close to spot on just because this type of thing hasn't happened at this site and I have a pretty good memory
Me: Sir why don't you quit acting like a 2 year old and keep moving and I'll be right behind you til you leave.
Him: The fuck you will
Me: The fuck I won't. I'm a grown ass man and will do whatever I want when I want. If I want to walk outside while you happen to be there, you are not going to stop me.
Him: Pretty fucking unprofessional!
Me: Thats the pot calling the kettle black if you ask me, do you even know what the Golden rule of life is? You just threw that right out of the window with your attitude towards me trying to do my job.
Him: Fuck you!
Me: Well sir you can kiss my ass because I don't give a fuck what you think. Pretty rediculous that I have to resort to cussing to get my point accross. We are grown adults, at least I try to be.
Him: Fuck you asshole!
Me: Get to steppin and get out of my sight because you are starting to piss me off and you won't like me when I'm mad(Pure Hulk quote
)
The whole time a Nurse was watching without me knowing and approached me after he walked away talking to himself. She told me that he is an asshole to all of the Nurses that try to "draw him" on the Kidney machines and is very disrespectful towards them. I told her that this is the first time I've ever resorted to "cussing" at someone that I'm paid to watch over and apologized that she heard it. She laughed it off and said it was very entertaining and she wishes she could but is kinda scared of him because of his attitude. While I try to be as professional as possible this felt very good to get off my chest. Most of the time I would have killed him with kindness but I've had a rough week and I had enough. Usually I think about it later and figure out what I could have said but didn't, this time I went into the zone. I will admit I chuckled later on after I realized I quoted Bruce Banner
TL/DR: Guy was major asshole and got his just deserves from my end!
┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐
Man: The Mods you are fighting,
they are the biggest Men I have ever seen. I
wouldn't want to fight them!
Me: That is why no one will remember your name!

I don't think you could have said anything better, nor been any more professional under the circumstances.
Everybody has a breaking point, and you at least let the tool know that you had to stoop to his level to get him to understand.
Well done, sir.

Thanks, the way I figure it is this:
The nurses are keeping you alive because your Kidneys are done and I'm keeping you from being jumped (At least I could call 911 or something because I'd probably get my ass kicked too. At the bare minimum I'm a visual deterentSRS!
"Don't bite the hand that feeds you!" and "Treat everyone how you would like to be treated!" Just scream at me for this incident.

As far as I'm concerned you did what you should have and kept it non physical.
I on the other hand am a little more "punchy" lol I would be in a holding tank right now with no job if that were me..
Because it seems some folks don't get the drift until they are spitting out teeth..
I hate being pushed that far because I always feel bad for days after.

I have a really bad temper and its caused from taking all of my anger and pushing it down deep until it finally explodes. I really should take anger management but have never been in trouble with the law for fighting and really don't want to fight since I had a detached retina in my right eye that was fixed and I don't want to take a hit there unless its life or death.
Hey though, at least I know how my body and anger work, right?

I was almost in that situation last night.
I'm the charge nurse of an orthopedic unit, when I arrived a patient had been given way too many narcotics and wasnt breathing too well, blood was getting acidic, holding onto a lot of CO2, O2 sats wouldnt stay up, acting a little loopy, etc.
So i gave him Narcan Iv, which undoes all narcotics in your system....you get to watch someone totally detox in about 5 minutes. Before I left the room, he went from snoring and not arousable, to puking, shivering, sweating, crying...looked just like a junky coming down.
This is the expected response, it really sucks, but its short lived, and its a last response before you get intubated and sent to ICU....i think the benefits outweigh.....
well the patient, a grown man, calls him mom bawling like a baby, she gets on the phone with the primary nurse and verbally rips him a new one, and said she was on her way....I was getting prepared to kindly turn all her abusive comments as ways of thanking me for possibly saving his life.
But he was back to normal before she arrived, and he was actually thanking me because reality had set in...which took all the wind out of her sails...

Sounds like alot of the douchebags I deal with every weekend. Most of these people are just looking for a fight and want someone to put a hand on them. You handled that about the same way I would.

hmmmmm.....that's strange. Most people that have to go get hooked up to machines because their kidneys have failed are usually really nice people since they obviously have such a great life.
Go easy on the guy.....you don't really know his story and what he has had to deal with. That kinda thing breaks some people for good.

if you get another jackass like that just leave him to his own devices... CYA = tell someone you tried, write it in your journal etc... then your'e done... if anything happens to the jackass, at that point, ..consider the herd thinned...
